Well yesterday didn't go according to plan. First I had internet issues again in the morning that meant my blog was delayed. Then I got a call asking me if I could take an extra shift at the pharmacy. I know they wouldn't call unless they really needed me so I abandoned my to do list and worked a late shift. The knock on from that was I finally got to bed late last night, and then our cat Houdini decided I needed a lie-in this morning. I've been playing catch up ever since. Still, ... VIEW POST
The Essence of Creativity?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Today's project is not what I set out to make. I started with an idea for a card, using the retiring Beautiful You Stamp Set. I chose the image of the lady with an umbrella. Then I chose the sentiment "Wishing you brighter days to come". Then I went looking for some paper to link with the "bright" part of the sentiment. Having looked through a number of packs I once again veered towards the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (DSP). The very ... VIEW POST
Showing Kindness and Compassion
After the events of the weekend I have been touched by the kindness and compassion shown by complete strangers. This is what makes us human. It was inevitable I suppose that I'd want to make condolences cards. This is the first, using the aptly named Kindness & Compassion Stamp Set. SOFT BACKGROUND I began my project by choosing the background design. This is a piece from the Perennial Essence 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Using my Paper Trimmer I cut four ... Go Where Dreams And Inspiration Takes You
Today's project was a total surprise. I sat down to create a card of some kind with no real plan. I found one of my older (but still available) stamp sets, pulled out the coordinating dies and set to work. I really like the "Go where dreams take you" sentiment, and before I knew it I'd created this card complete with a spring wreath. Sometimes going with the flow brings lovely results. THE WREATH This project all started with the Lovely Leaves Dies. I chose the small fern die and ... VIEW POST
Weathering The Storms Of Life
I went to bed last night with no idea what I was going to make for today's blog. By the time I awoke I had an idea for an inspirational fridge magnet. So out came the Sailing Home Stamp Set and the "Let hope be your anchor through the storms of life" sentiment. In no time at all my idea had taken shape. STORMY SEAS On the side of my fridge I have a collection of magnets. These ones are all 'advertising' from local businesses and organisations, and quite useful at times. I did ... VIEW POST
Under My Umbrella Today
When I get stamp sets that have 'parts' or shapes I often see alternative uses for them. I've turned a flower petal into hair on a baby, and balloons into a bowl of sausages. Today's transformation using the Under My Umbrella Stamp Set isn't quite so dramatic, but it's one I've not seen done before. EMBOSSED UMBRELLA This project began with the umbrella image and a scrap of the Petal Pink paper from the Perennial Essence 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. First I wiped ... VIEW POST
