It’s no secret that I’m a book lover. And by books I mean real ink on paper type of books. It’s true that I do have an e-reader. However that’s just because it makes taking a stack of books on vacation a lot easier on the luggage allowance. But there’s something about holding a book and turning the pages that I don’t get from the electronic version. Reading, like crafting, is when I take some much needed ‘me time”, and that inspired today’s project using the retiring Playful Alphabet ... VIEW POST
Romance Was Top Of Mind
You know it’s funny the things that come to mind as I’m considering new projects to make for my blog. Take the other night... I was thinking about bookmarks and the kinds of books people read. I’m a fan of medical thrillers especially by Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs, but I do like other genres too. And then it occurred to me, what about having a different bookmark tailored to each genre! So to kick off that idea I designed this pretty bookmark that’s perfect for all those romance ... VIEW POST
Start Here With Playful Alphabet Dies
It's Groundhog Day! It's also 2/2/22 although I'm not whether that has any mystical significance. It's also exactly three months until the end of the Stampin' Up! 2021/2022 Annual Catalogue. As a result I'm now thinking about products that I suspect my be retired. Today my prediction is the Playful Alphabet Dies. Not because I don't like them, but simply that they've been around a couple of years and sales are likely dropping off. So to show off these useful dies (and some free paper) I ... VIEW POST
Playful Alphabet Lives Up To Its Name
When it comes to Halloween I'm a bit of a let-down. In the UK Halloween is building in popularity but was never a thing when I was growing up. Now I live in Canada I can appreciate the decorated yards and have things for the trick or treaters, but that's about as far as it goes. For this reason I don't tend to get specific Halloween-themed stamp sets, but aren't unhappy if there's the odd image included in a set. Today though, I have a fun Halloween idea using the Playful Alphabet Dies and a ... VIEW POST
Summer Skies With Beauty Of The Earth
While I don't mind creating my own sky effect I certainly don't mind cheating now and again. The background for today's bookmark project is one example of that. You might be surprised to find that among all the trees and leaves in the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack is this amazing pattern. It's a watercolour wash effect that makes adding a summer sky an absolute breeze. BEAUTY OF THE EARTH This project really did begin with the sky background from the Beauty of ... VIEW POST
With Playful Alphabet Anything Seems Possible
Not having access to all the tools and materials in my craft studio recently has given me a new appreciation for how fortunate I am as a crafter. It's also forced me to think outside the box to get even more from the tools I do have at my disposal. For today's project it was the Playful Alphabet Dies that came to the rescue once again. I discovered that one half of the equals sign makes a lovely ribbon slot for my bookmark. Yay! HAND-PENNED SUITE My project began with a pretty floral ... VIEW POST
