Did you know that the red petals on a poinsettia aren't really petals at all? They're a special type of leaf called bracts which respond to changing light levels. This causes them to change from green to red (or shades of pink or white) as the plant matures. The true flowers on a poinsettia are the teeny tiny yellow things found in the very middle of the bracts. Poinsettia Flower? Yes And No.
While I'm waiting for my next order to arrive I'm trying to be good and continue reorganising my craft studio. Yesterday I went through my dies and made sure only the current ones were in my immediate work area. All the retired dies and stamp sets are kept elsewhere in case I want them for personal projects. Heat Emboss Instead Of Using Ink
This morning's project pretty much went according to plan. As I sat down I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card with a few special touches. So instead of using ink, I opted to emboss all the details on my poinsettia. In fact I ended up using two colours of embossing powder and I love the finished result.
