When I was growing up we always said "Merry Christmas and a happy New Year". So ever since, even without the new year bit, I've stuck with "Merry Christmas". It never occurred to me that this might seem odd to some, but it was a question raised by one of my customers recently. It came about when she ordered the Happy Holly-Days Stamp Set and said how grateful she was that it included her preferred "Happy Christmas" greeting. So to acknowledge this difference I've created today's project with ... VIEW POST
Blending Brushes For Simple Colour
My regular readers will know that I love colouring. Just recently I seem to have been obsessed with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. It's hard not to be when it's so easy to get great results, especially over larger areas. But that's not the only way to add colour to a project. Today's idea using a Blending Brush was one of those that just popped into my head. It's a lot less precise than Stampin' Blends but it certainly was worth the try. BLENDING BRUSH BACKGROUND I began with a 2" ... VIEW POST
Magic & Wonder With A Pretty Poinsettia
As part of my recent World Card Making Day challenge it was inevitable that I'd make some Christmas cards. In fact I surprised myself by making fewer than I expected. Sometimes that's the way it goes when you're trying to design and make 24 different cards in 24 hours. Today's project was number 6 of the 24 and for instant inspiration I couldn't resist the gorgeous Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set. POINSETTIA PETALS I began by choosing the large complete poinsettia image from the ... VIEW POST
Poinsettia Petals Aren’t Really Petals
Did you know that the red petals on a poinsettia aren't really petals at all? They're a special type of leaf called bracts which respond to changing light levels. This causes them to change from green to red (or shades of pink or white) as the plant matures. The true flowers on a poinsettia are the teeny tiny yellow things found in the very middle of the bracts. Of course this doesn't make them any more impressive, but it did influence how I designed today's gift tag project. TAILOR ... VIEW POST
Holly Border Punch For A Sweet Embellishment
Today's blog project is super easy and uses a couple of new products from the July to December Mini Catalogue. The gold Simply Classic Treat Box is small but is great for treats and table favours, as well as those special little gifts. It comes in two parts with a white base, and the gold lid slips over the top. The lid has a hanging loop but to use that make sure you stick or tie the two parts of the box together. The box will remind you if you forget. lol. The other new product is that ... VIEW POST
Merry Melody For A Musical Background
So far in my sneak peeks of new products we've had beautiful paper, a couple of stamp sets and some dies. Today I wanted to show you the amazing Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. I don't know if it's an excerpt from an actual piece of music, but it still looks great as the background to this Christmas card. MERRY MELODY This project began with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. I didn't have any idea what I was going to make, just that I wanted to try out this new product. As it's ... VIEW POST
