It’s funny how a little bit of sunshine and blue sky can raise the spirits. While I’m still in COVID self-isolation I’m enjoying the first signs of spring. Today we were treated to the sight of a dozen white-tailed deer in the area behind our house. The birds are out, and so was one of our resident red squirrels. I love living in rural Nova Scotia with all the wildlife that comes to visit. We’re working on creating a flower meadow in the back field and that inspired ... VIEW POST
Quiet Meadow Vintage Style
Although I try not to copy anyone else's projects, as a papercrafter I’m endlessly fascinated by other artists’ design processes. Something I love but struggle with are collage style projects. These are most often found on scrapbook pages but I’ve seen some great examples on cards too. The other style I’m still working on is ‘vintage’. That’s a real challenge for me, but with practice I feel I’m definitely improving. Today’s experiment involved limiting myself to ... VIEW POST
Back To Black And Quiet Meadow
So it's October 31st and another month has simply flown by. My regular readers will know I'm not big on Halloween but in the 'spirit' of the occasion I thought I'd bring you this black card. It's a "Thinking of You" card using a sentiment from the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set. If you followed my 24 cards in 24 hours challenge earlier this month on Facebook you may remember it. This is probably one of my favourites from that marathon session. I don't often design mainly black cards, but this one ... VIEW POST
Petal Pink Finally Has Me Hooked
When Stampin' Up! refreshed its colour range a couple of years ago I had mixed feelings. Out went some of my favourite colours, but so too did some I wasn't keen on so that balanced it out. Of all the new colours I suppose the one I've struggled with the most is Petal Pink. There was just something about Petal Pink that made me avoid it when designing projects. Perhaps it was because the colour wasn't a proper 'pink'. It took a while, but suddenly I'm in love with Petal Pink. It's still ... VIEW POST
Quiet Meadow With A Vintage Vibe
So this today hasn't gone at all according to plan, hence my blog is very late being published. It's not even as if I had a card to make, it was pretty much complete last night. All I needed to do was decorate the inside and envelope! I can't even put my finger on why I'm running behind, I just am. So without any further delay here's a vintage-style card created using the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set. MEADOW BUTTERCUPS I was inspired to make this card after I saw a comment on Facebook ... VIEW POST
Natural Textures And Other Host Stamp Sets
One of the most overlooked parts of any Stampin' Up! catalogue has to be the Host section near the back. Some customers seem to think that if they're not hosting a workshop or 'party' that it's not relevant to them. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact if you have a larger order (at least $200 CAD before shipping and taxes) you can qualify for host perks. That includes exclusive stamp sets like Natural Textures which I used on today's project. WOVEN TEXTURES The Natural ... VIEW POST
