It's March 1st and that means the last month of the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration promotion. This is where you can get exclusive products for free, simply for placing a qualifying order. Most of the free items are 'level 1' which means you can get one of these for every $60 CAD spent before shipping and taxes. There are also a few higher value 'level 2' items that can be chosen with $120 of purchases (before shipping and taxes). While this is great, Stampin' Up! is aware of customer ... VIEW POST
Turning the Corner
A couple of days ago I was working with the Detailed Trio Punch to create a gift tag. While I was filming the short video tutorial I was reminded that it's called a trio punch for a reason. As well as the oval hole that I used for my tag, there are two other punch elements. One adds a little floral style motif in the corner, while the other rounds the corner itself. So for today's quick and easy project design I decided to put the corner rounder to work. POSITIVELY PURPLE It's no ... VIEW POST
Monochrome Lily for WWYS207
I've been playing with a lot of colour just lately, probably to offset the lack of bright colours in my garden. So I thought I'd embrace the outdoors for my Design Team project for this week's What Will You Stamp? challenge. The challenge is #WWYS207 Lasting Lily, showcasing a free stamp set from the 2019 Sale-A-Bration Brochure. First I chose my colour palette. Thick Whisper White for the card base and Whisper White for the stamped layers. I'd use just one ink colour, Memento Tuxedo ... VIEW POST
A Cloud of Butterflies
Here in Nova Scotia it's bright and sunny, but at minus 12C it's very cold. So once again I'm in my craft studio dreaming of spring and playing with butterflies. This Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack is available free during Sale-A-Bration. Now there are even more exclusive free items to choose from. But first, my project. I began my card by using my Stampin' Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. I folded it along the scored line and sharpened ... VIEW POST
Tin Tile Distressed
If you've been following my blog you'll know that just recently I've been experimenting with breaking a few rules. I've decided that in papercrafting rule-breaking can lead to some very interesting results. So today it's the turn of the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It's true that to get the best results you need to spritz the card with water before running it through the Big Shot. But as this project shows, interesting things can happen when you don't. TIN ... Lovely Lattice for #WWYS205
Many years ago when I first started papercrafting I was introduced to the 'blockfill technique'. Basically I would create a colourful image and then partially surround it with a block of really dark colour, usually black. The beauty of the technique is in the contrast between the two areas. The challenge was getting the dark colour without telltale streaks, but the new Basic Black Stampin' Blends now makes this possible. So as soon as I saw the Lovely Lattice Stamp Set I was determined to ... VIEW POST
