As more details emerge of the tragedy that happened here in Nova Scotia on Sunday it's easy to become overwhelmed. We all want to know what happened and why someone would do something like this. But sometimes we simply need to take a step back and just breathe. The answers will come in time. Today's project isn't at all what I had planned. It's a pocket photo album that I will now fill with photos showing the beauty and serenity of my part of Nova Scotia. While healing will take time, we ... VIEW POST
Caught In A Card Dilemma
As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator you'd think I'd have every colour of ink pad and card, and you wouldn't be far wrong. Having been a Demonstrator for almost 6 years I've had time to build up my stash, but even I get caught out from time to time. Today's project is proof of that. At the beginning of October I set myself a personal challenge for World Card Making Day. I would design and make from scratch 24 different cards in 24 hours. It was a challenge I achieved with just minutes to ... VIEW POST
Final Shades of Autumn
With the recent wind and colder weather our garden had taken on a rather sad feel. The beautiful autumn colours of the past few weeks are all but a memory, and while there's still some colour in the grass, even that's not as vibrant. Today's project is an autumn card I made in early October as part of my personal World Card Making Day challenge. Even though I was working under the pressure of the clock, I still love how this turned out. WOODEN BASE I began this project with the ... VIEW POST
Sidetracked By The Scenery
I am often inspired in my crafting by the local scenery here in Nova Scotia. At this time of year it is the amazing autumn colour palette that has me stopping the car, or jumping up from my desk. When the light is just right everything seems to glow. Sadly though, today may be one of my last opportunities to admire autumn at it's finest as we are due some bad weather which will likely strip the remaining leaves from the trees. So here's a gift tag inspired by a trip out yesterday... A ... VIEW POST
A Custom-sized Basic Box With Lid
It won't be long before the Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday Catalogue goes live and our attentions turn to Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas. So I thought it might be helpful to begin a series of tutorials showing you how to make different types of treat and gift packaging. Today we'll start with a basic tray-style box with a separate lid, like this. CUSTOM TWO-PART BOX This box is essentially two open trays, with the bottom of the lower one slightly smaller than the lid. They are easy ... VIEW POST
Ahoy There Seaside Friends
All this hot and sunny weather makes me glad I live overlooking the bay. There's a nice cooling breeze coming off the water and I can see for miles. This was the excuse I needed to finally get to work on a seaside-themed frame that I've been thinking about. Mostly I've used products from the Come Sail Away suite, but there's some other seaside extras too. BASIC BACKGROUND The display area of the frame is a little under 12" x 12", so I could simply trim some 12" x 12" Designer Series ... VIEW POST
