Sometimes life gets ahead of you and you can find yourself in a bit of a panic. That's roughly where I was by the time I started to make this split scene card. To celebrate World Card Making Day, I'd challenged myself to design and make from scratch, 24 cards in 24 hours. Twenty hours in, I'd managed to grab some sleep but now I had only four hours left to in which to make 8 cards. The 'just breathe' sentiment from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set just seemed a good reminder at that ... VIEW POST
WCMD 2018 Personal Challenge
If you saw yesterday's blog post you'll know that I set myself a personal challenge to mark World Card Making Day. Starting at 12 noon on October 6th I would design and make from scratch, 24 cards in 24 hours. In the first 10 hours I managed to complete 12 cards including the inside and envelopes. Then I remembered that I hadn't written today's blog post! So here I am after 10 solid hours of crafting, faithfully typing up a blog post for you. As I stifle yet another ... VIEW POST
World Card Making Day 2018
My daughter tells me today is 'National Transfer Money To Your Daughter's Account Day'. Hmm, I'm not sure about that one. But it is definitely World Card Making Day 2018. All over the crafting world people are making cards, not that we card makers need an excuse. My first card for today is another one inspired by a colour challenge, using a technique I haven't use in ages, masking. MASKING IMAGES Before I could start the actual project I needed to first create some masks ... VIEW POST
Friends Feathers & Frost
When I got up to create today's project my mind was a blank. Often I'll go to bed thinking about what I'll make and by the time I wake an idea has popped into my head. So having been let down by my subconscious mind, I turned to a design challenge, the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge in fact. In no time at all I'd made a very simple card for friends. SIMPLE BORDER BACKGROUND I began with a layer of Very Vanilla Card and Soft Sea Foam ink. Using one side of the large leafy image from the ... VIEW POST
Beautiful Blizzard Snowflakes
A few days ago I created a card with embossed and die-cut snowflakes from the new Beautiful Blizzard Bundle. I really like this bundle and the snowflakes all have 6 sides, which I know is important to many people. There's also some gorgeous sentiments (words and type-face) in the stamp set too. So I suppose it was inevitable I'd end up with a bookmark idea for today's simple Sunday project. OH SO SIMPLE SNOWFLAKES I began, as usual, with a 2" x 5-1/2" strip of Thick Whisper White ... Dynamic Embossing On DSP
So this morning I had an idea. I experimented a few days ago with a double-inking technique on the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder® and was really pleased with the results. Today I had an idea to try using a different Dynamic embossing folder on DSP to see how that worked. So I pulled out one I haven't used in ages, Basket Weave, and accidentally made a masculine birthday card. Not that I'm complaining! BASKET WEAVE DYNAMIC EMBOSSING FOLDER The point about the ...
