Today my plan was to create a card using the Under The Mistletoe Designer Series Paper (DSP). I would have a large piece of the DSP with some ribbon along the bottom edge. Then I'd add a large(ish) sentiment along the bottom of the card base. Well needless to say my project didn't quite turn out that way. The DSP and ribbon conspired against me and I ended up with something else entirely for today's simple Sunday project. BACK TO BASICS The base for this card is a piece of Sahara ... VIEW POST
Timeless Textures Thank You
Today is officially the last day of summer so despite the cooler weather I decided to pull out some bright colours for today's project. Stampin' Up! has the most amazing ink colours and also sells coordinating card and ribbons to match. Add to that great stamp sets like Timeless Textures and Thankful Thoughts, and making a thank you card was simplicity itself. TIMELESS TEXTURES I haven't used Timeless Textures for ages and chose three of the images for my collage-style background. The ... VIEW POST
Wishing You Well
One of the things I love about Stampin' Up! stamps is the detail they get in the images. That has never been more true than with their new DistINKtive stamps. These take the concept of detail to a whole new level with an almost photographic quality to the images. Wishing You Well is one such set and I must say that the catalogue doesn't really do it justice. I only received the set yesterday and decided that to use this week's CAS Colours & Sketches challenge for ... VIEW POST
Abstract Impressions Flowers And Hugs
After yesterday's rather artistic autumn trees card using the Waterfront Stamp Set, I was in the mood for flowers today. I've just got the Abstract Impressions Stamp Set and thought it would be a good opportunity to ink it up. What's more, it would be one last hurrah for summer so bright colours it was. ABSTRACT IMPRESSIONS The Abstract Impressions Stamp Set uses the two-step stamping technique. This simply means you stamp one image and then stamp another over the top. Sometimes you ... VIEW POST
Autumn Colours By The Waterfront
For the past few days I've managed to resist the urge to make Christmas projects and I've succeeded again today. This week the What Will You Stamp? challenge Design Team have been working on WWYS186 - Waterfront. Oh I did think about using the fir trees in a snowy background, but instead went with autumn colours. THE BACKGROUND I began by preparing the background for my scene on a layer of Very Vanilla Card. Starting with the Z-shaped stamp from the Waterfront Stamp Set inked up using ... VIEW POST
Square Wreath Tag
I'm sure I've already mentioned that that there's a definite autumnal feel here in Nova Scotia. Yes there have been some very warm days, but cool, almost chilly, mornings are a regular feature now. As if to prove my point the landscape has started to change too. Gone are the brash colours, and the palette is now more muted, warmer tones. It was this that inspired today's simple Sunday project, a square wreath tag. SQUARE WREATH TAG I began with a 3" x 3" piece of Thick Whisper White ... VIEW POST
