Oh my goodness what a morning I’ve had! I mentioned yesterday that lots of the products being retired by Stampin’ Up! are selling out, and it’s playing havoc with my blog plans. I don’t think I’ve ever seen stamp sets sell out the way they have been, despite the fact they they’re generally not discounted. However, at the time of writing, the Sailing Home Stamp Set, Smooth Sailing Dies and the three other retiring products used on today’s project are still available. But for how much longer is ... New Horizons For Sailing Home
When the Sailing Home Stamp Set and Smooth Sailing Dies first came out they were accompanied by a coordinating paper pack. Sadly, although the stamps and dies carried over, the paper was retired. So I was excited to see the amazing New Horizons 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP). This pack contains 48 sheets (12 double-sided designs) that have been hand-painted by the talented artists at Stampin' Up! As I'd hoped, there were backgrounds that were suitable for a sailing theme, and I simply ... VIEW POST
Create A Hat For Any Occasion
Masculine cards are often perceived by many crafters as difficult to make. With feminine cards, if all else fails, add flowers and bows. For the men, not so simple (although lots of men like flowers!). Anyway, when Stampin' Up! brought out the Hats Off Stamp Set and coordinating Hat Builder Dies I could see an immediate need. Oddly enough my first hat card was a feminine one, just to prove a point. But when it came to my recent 24 cards in 24 hours marathon, I couldn't resist going in a ... VIEW POST
Sailing And Sweaters Are Made For Each Other
Happy Labour Day! I had a bit of a lie-in this morning but I wasn't idle. I was actually thinking about what I should make for today's blog. I'd decided that it's been too long since I took part in a design challenge and so my project was inspired by the Just Add Ink Colour Challenge #570. The colours I had to use were Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana and White. I could also add black, vanilla or metallics. The blue combination made me think of sailing, and I already had half an idea in my ... VIEW POST
Sailing Away On An Alcohol Ink Background
Over the past couple of days I've been playing in my craft studio with no particular project in mind. Instead I've been experimenting with different background techniques. Now I have a small collection of prepared backgrounds that I can use on future projects. Among other things I finally tried out the Stampin' Blends alcohol technique on Vellum Cardstock. I have to say I wasn't disappointed by the results and I decided to turn a blue version into a seascape. With the addition of the ... VIEW POST
Notebook collection grows again
My regular readers will know that I love a pretty notebook. Well I love any notebook really and have a lot of fun decorating them. Yesterday as I was playing in my studio with nothing specific in mind a notebook caught my eye. In fact it was a stack of notebooks, because why buy one when you can buy six, right? All I needed was some paper, some odd bits of card and a sentiment... PAPER AND CARD First came the poinsettia covered paper from the Flowers For Every Season 6" x 6" Designer ... VIEW POST
