For me, the beauty of embossing folders lies not only in the amazing designs that I can emboss. Just recently I've come to realise that embossing folders can serve another purpose. They can save a project from disaster, and when I was making today's project, one did just that. LIFT ME UP I began this project simply enough, with some Very Vanilla Card, a stamp set and a couple of ink pads. On one piece of card I stamped the two balloons from the Lift Me Up Stamp Set, the larger one ... VIEW POST
Cauldron Bubble WWYS90
This week's stamp set for the What Will You Stamp? challenge, WWYS190 Cauldron Bubble, really had me stumped. As a member of the Design Team, I'm supposed to come up with ideas but Halloween just isn't my thing. Finally after days of nothing I had an epiphany. In the kitchen. While I was making apple and tomato chutney. Why not use the cauldron for the tag on my chutney! CAULDRON BUBBLE I started with the cauldron image from the Cauldron Bubble Stamp Set, stamped onto Thick Whisper ... VIEW POST
Sparkling Poinsettia
During my personal 24 cards in 24 hours challenge I tried a new (to me) technique using Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. The idea is to give the illusion of coloured Glimmer Paper by colouring on an acetate overlay. On my project I created a Christmas card featuring a sparkling poinsettia using the Detailed Poinsettia Thinlits Dies. I was reasonably happy with the results considering I was working against the clock, but there are a few things I'd do differently next time. SPARKLING ... VIEW POST
Hand Coloured Designer Series Paper
When you've set yourself a personal challenge to design and make 24 different cards in 24 hours, you'll do anything. For the fourth card in the series I fell back on a technique I tried some months ago. This time I decided to create hand coloured Designer Series Paper in autumn colours. HAND COLOURED DESIGNER SERIES PAPER In the past, Stampin' Up! have sold paper that was designed to be coloured, but that's not what I used. My Designer Series Paper (DSP) actually comes from the Nature's ... VIEW POST
Rainy Morning Brighter Days
It's been warmer here in Nova Scotia just lately, but rain and grey skies have replaced our usual vivid blue. Once again the weather influenced my choice of project and stamp set, but it's anything but dreary. So with the 'wishing you brighter days' sentiment on the inside of the card, here's your morning papercrafting inspiration. THE COLOURS I began with a piece of Whisper White Card and the umbrella girl image from the Beautiful You Stamp Set. I stamped the image onto the card using ... VIEW POST
The Simplest Water Background
Often I know where the inspiration for my projects comes from, or at least have a vague idea. Today is not one of those days. I'm not even sure what made me pull out the Graceful Glass Designer Vellum. But once I'd created the water background, the rest of the project seemed to happen all by itself. WATER BACKGROUND This water background was so easy to do. I began with the Graceful Glass Designer Vellum with the embossed side up and I used a Dark Pool Party Stampin' ... VIEW POST
