Do you enjoy watching movies? I do, even though I don’t often get to see them on the big screen. In fact I think the last few times I been to a cinema it’s been in the UK with one or more granddaughters. I like spotting popular movie references, like recently when my doctor explained the potential sides affects of abruptly stopping a new medication with the words “you might see dead people”! Today’s project features another movie reference using the Mini Alphabet Dies and Waterside Retreat ... VIEW POST
Easy Alphabet Sentiment
Artisan Sketched By Request
Last weekend I was working at a local bazaar that sells home baking and handcrafted items. It’s where I sell a lot of my finished cards and projects and get to meet the lovely people who purchase them. Although I try to keep a good variety of cards in stock, I wasn’t able to help a lady looking for a simple anniversary card (I only had ones for silver and golden anniversaries). So today I decided to remedy that by making this floral card using the Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper ... VIEW POST
Paired Phrases
Have you ever noticed that only a minority of stamp sets have sentiments intended for use on the inside of a card? It’s not a major problem for me but when I find a set with inside sentiments as well it’s certainly a bonus. At first glance the new Phrases and Frames Stamp Set is a collection of sentiments that would definitely all work on the front of a card. However if you look closely you’ll discover they're also designed to work in pairs as demonstrated on today’s card project. My card ... VIEW POST
Hello Ladybug
I’m just going to come right out and say it, I’m not a huge fan of insects. Daddy Long-legs (crane flies) and moths are particularly heinous beings in my book. But that’s most likely childhood trauma from having them thrown in my hair by nasty little boys! Butterflies are lovely, they don’t seem keen on bumping into me, and I can appreciate bees too, especially the fat buzzy ones. I’m always happy to see a ladybird (ladybug here in Canada) in the garden as well as in my craft ... VIEW POST
Final Nests Of Winter
Have you looked at the Last Chance section of my online store recently? Last week Stampin’ Up! revealed all the products that are retiring and now only available while stocks last. Most I pretty much could have guessed however there’s few I will definitely miss. Among those are the Nests of Winter 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set. Both of these have been well used in my craft studio but I’ll still be sad to see them go. Here’s one last seasonal card. ... VIEW POST
Textures For Collage
Even though I mainly make cards that doesn’t mean I’m not interested in other crafts. In fact over the years I’ve found that seeing others’ creative processes and projects actually inspires me. Last month I took advantage of a free two week online course from collage artist Catherine Rains. The Collage Breakthrough Course was quite basic but really helped me understand how and why different combinations of colours, shapes and patterns work together. Then when I started on today’s project using ... VIEW POST
