Today’s birthday card is one of those happy accidents that occurs when I’m just playing with stamps, ink and paper. In fact it started out as a simple idea using the colours of the paper as my inspiration. It was only after I stamped the sentiment that more interesting things started to happen. I could have simply used one of the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut a separate mat layer for the sentiment. However then I wondered what would happen if I let the card base do the job instead. A Rhino With Stripes
One of the fun things about buying new patterned paper is discovering designs you hadn’t noticed when you placed the order. Take the Let’s Go Fishing 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack for instance. It was pretty obvious that there were lots of fishing themed designs, but as I explored the pack I spotted a gorgeous diagonal stripe. The Pebbled Path colour immediately inspired me to pair it with a sweet rhino image. The result is this elegant gender-neutral birthday card, and there’s not ... VIEW POST
Birthday Greetings
This morning I was in the mood for some colouring and fussy cutting. I have lots of stamp sets with line-art images to choose from so it took me a few minutes to decide. In the end I opted for another stamp set I haven’t used in a while, By My Side. The three people in this set are all linked to animals, but they’re easily separated with some masking before stamping, or scissors afterwards. Sadly By My Side doesn’t include a birthday sentiment but Go To Greetings solved that. SIMPLE ... VIEW POST
Sun Rays
And just like that the weekend is over and I didn’t quite get to everything on my to do list. But I came very close, so I’ll take that as a win. The weather hasn’t changed much and it’s going to be a very wet week. That’s the perfect excuse for doing some more reorganising indoors. Of course I’ll still spend in my craft studio, it’s where I go to relax. Yesterday I decided to add a little sunshine to my day and created this project using the Rays of Light stamp. OFF-SET RAYS When I sat ... VIEW POST
Stylish Layered Shapes
When looking through the Stampin’ Up! Up! catalogue it’s easy to be drawn in by the fancy dies. I find that’s especially true if the dies coordinate with a stamp set. But what about those ‘boring’ sets, you know the simpler shapes that are designed to be universal? If you’re like me you’ll get them because you know they’ll be useful, but then rarely use them. Take the Stylish Shapes Dies, I’ve had these for quite a while, but only today did I make something that made me go “wow!” SIMPLE ... VIEW POST
Zoo Crew Inspiration
I’m not entirely sure lions like toasted marshmallows, however that’s one of the fun scenes included in the Zoo Crew 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Like most of the individual animal images on the various sheets there’s only a little bit of colour, but for me that’s one of the big attractions. You see it means that I have the option to add more colour if I want. In fact it’s something I’ve done a few times using Stampin’ Blends and I simply love the final effect. CAMPING AT THE ...
