It's always a good day when I can make a masculine card. Most cardmakers I speak to say masculine and sympathy cards are the hardest to make. So when I created this one for my personal World Card Making Day challenge earlier this month I was very happy indeed. I pulled out the Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set and a favourite pack of DSP and just started to play. BACKGROUND PATTERNS This card all started with the backgrounds found in the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) ... VIEW POST
Silhouette Houses And Hearts Come Home
When I was making cards against the clock I was concerned to ensure that they were still well made. That said there really was only enough time to have an idea, tweak it a little, then move on to the next one. Afterwards with the luxury of hindsight, I can see how my cards might be improved. Today's Christmas card project with silhouette houses is one such card. SILHOUETTE HOUSES This project all started with those pretty silhouette houses from the Hometown Greetings Edgelits Dies. ... WWYS189 Still Night
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. A special thank you too to whoever left a chocolate bar on my front door yesterday. While working on my 24 cards in 24 hours challenge I'd mentioned my need for chocolate, and it appears someone responded. I was shattered by the end of it and slept like a log last night. Which leads me nicely into this week's What Will You Stamp? design challenge, WWYS189 Still Night. MORE CRAFTING Oh yes, having finished my 24 cards I realised I hadn't made my Design Team ... Scrappy Day Pearlised Leaves
As someone who crafts every day, I need to be able to find things quickly. One of the key things for me is keeping my scraps organised and easily accessible. I have a number of ways that I do that, but more importantly I make a conscious effort to use them. Today's project is chock full of scraps, including some of the pearlised leaves I created a few days ago. TAG BASE My Night of Navy tag base started out as a piece of card from my card scraps tin. I only needed to trim 1/4" off the ... VIEW POST
Beach wedding – life imitates art
Regular followers of my blog will know that recently we attended our daughter's beach wedding in Lanzarote. It's a beautiful volcanic island off the west coast of Morocco, and a place that's very dear to them. Since then I've been working on creating special pieces to commemorate the occasion, and today I wanted to show you this simple scrapbook page. THE STORY For me, creating a scrapbook page is all about the story. What do I want the 'reader' to get from this? This particular 12" ... VIEW POST
Lone Pine Tree – Thinking of You
Just recently a couple of friends have both lost close members of their family. Sympathy card are hard to make but I know first hand how comforting it is to receive them. When preparing to make today's card I automatically reached for the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set and specifically the lone pine tree image. By itself, this tree could be seen as quite sad, but I prefer to look at it as something that has weathered the storms, and still stands strong. It's forever shaped by what has happened ... VIEW POST
