Once upon a time I was a card maker who couldn’t use anything but the card and ink that I’d acquired. Back then my designs were very simple and rarely included layers, But as my skills developed I realised that often what gives interest is texture and dimension. Sometimes that might be through the use of patterned papers, or lifting elements off the main surface. But right now my favourite method is to use fun techniques with embossing folders like this one from the Thanks & Hello Embossing ... VIEW POST
Basic Open Weave
Oh where did the weekend go? I always seem to run out of weekend before I run out of things I want to get done. Still, I did manage to find some time to craft and already have tomorrow’s final sneak peek project made. But before we get to that I have a birthday card project for you. It combines the Beautifully Happy Stamp Set (only available until the Stampin’ Up! 2023 Sale-A-Bration promotion ends tomorrow), with another of the Basic 3D Embossing Folders available to customers starting on ... Beautifully Simple
Can you believe that it’s the last day of January already! That also means we’re halfway through this year’s Sale-A-Bration promotion. I’ve been having lots of fun with the free items I earned with my orders. However, in a change from previous years this will be the only Sale-A-Bration promotion in 2023. So I’m determined to make the most of it while I still can. One item available for free with a $120 order is the 17-piece Beautifully Happy Stamp Set. This is one that’s also beautifully simple ... Petal Park Playtime
In my Facebook memories today was a photo I took 7 years ago of snow piling up on the shrubs in front of the house. Today there’s a very different scene outside with not a snowflake on the ground and a spring-like blue sky. I was even tempted to throw open all the windows until I checked the thermometer and quickly changed my mind. So instead I’ll create my early spring indoors, starting with this pretty birthday gift tag created using the Petal Park and Go To Greetings Stamp Sets. TINY ... VIEW POST
Happy Labels
Yesterday’s freezing rain was more like ice pellets but at least the power stayed on. Now it’s back to rain again and our mild winter continues. It’s hard to believe it’s already mid-January! But it’s the beginning of another week and time to break out two bundles from the Stampin’ Up! January to April 2023 Mini Catalogue. The image-only Petal Park and sentiment-only Happy Labels seem to be a match made in heaven. Add in the coordinating Petal Park Builder Punch and Happy Labels Pick-A-Punch and ... VIEW POST
Beautifully Happy Hollyhocks
When offered free papercrafting products what do you tend to go for? That’s the dilemma many people find themselves facing during the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration promotion. Past experience tells me to prioritise the Designer Series Paper (DSP) first. That’s because although the patterns are beautifully designed by Stampin’ Up! Artists, the production is out-sourced. So if it runs out there’s no time for them to order more and it will become unavailable. Then I choose my favourite stamp sets and ... VIEW POST
