When looking through the Stampin’ Up! Up! catalogue it’s easy to be drawn in by the fancy dies. I find that’s especially true if the dies coordinate with a stamp set. But what about those ‘boring’ sets, you know the simpler shapes that are designed to be universal? If you’re like me you’ll get them because you know they’ll be useful, but then rarely use them. Take the Stylish Shapes Dies, I’ve had these for quite a while, but only today did I make something that made me go “wow!” SIMPLE ... VIEW POST
Time For New Ink Colours
Now that Stampin’ Up! has refreshed its colours I thought it was a good time to let you in on my wish list strategy. Ultimately I want all the new ink colours and would love to order everything at once. However I need to spread my purchases over several months, but where to start? What I do is just create as normal, then as I’m working I make a note of any colours I wished I’d had. These are the ones I’ll prioritise on my next order. For instance, today’s birthday tag project told me I needed a ... VIEW POST
Brushstroke Paper
There’s something about pleats that I find really elegant. Not that I like ironing them though! When I was very much younger, long ‘sun-ray’ pleated skirts were all the rage. IDEAS Blog Hop: Ribbon Scraps
It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for another IDEAS blog hop. This month our theme is “Stunning scraps”. The entire team have designed projects using scraps of all kinds. Many of the team decided to work with paper scraps and I'm amazed by all the different ways they used them. Me? Well once again I’m thinking outside the box. So instead of card or paper scraps, my projects focus on using those scraps of ribbon that are too short to tie into a bow. RIBBON ... VIEW POST
Moment For Gratitude
Today is Heritage Day here in Nova Scotia. It serves as an annual reminder of the people, places and events that make up our Province’s unique history. It’s one of the few Statutory Holidays here and so most businesses are closed. Interestingly though it’s not a federal holiday, so federal offices and federally regulated businesses like Canada Post remain open. Other provinces also mark the third Monday in February although with a different name e.g. Family Day. Regardless, it’s good to take a ... VIEW POST
Petal Park Pieces
The lurgy that’s going around has finally got me and I’m currently dosed up with medication. So for today’s project I needed to find something that I could put together really quickly. If you’re a regular follower of my blog you’ll remember a box decorated using the new Petal Park Stamp Set and coordinating Petal Park Builder Punch. After finishing that project I had a few pieces left over. Today I decided that with a pretty box to gift, I could use those pieces to create a birthday gift ... VIEW POST
