Yesterday I showed you an idea for a birthday card with an unusual arrangement of layers. Using the Stylish Shapes Dies I cut a circle from my main card layer so the card base was able to show through. Then I fixed the die-cut sentiment inside the hole and the card base became a faux mat layer. Of course that left me with the circle I’d die-cut from the layered Designer Series Paper (DSP). Turning it into a birthday gift tag seemed the perfect way to use up that piece. LOTS OF SHAPES My ... VIEW POST
Earthen Elegance Inspired
This morning I woke up with a technique idea using a piece of the Earthen Elegance 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP). However after trialling the technique I decided it needed a bit more refinement. Then I looked over at the rest of the DSP sheet which happened to be showing me the geometric pattern on the back. Suddenly a new idea popped into my head and all thoughts of my original project were pushed aside. Using the Tailor Made Tags Dies this alternative project came together really ... VIEW POST
Eden’s Garden Exit
The list of ‘Last Chance’ products that are now sold out continues to grow. Despite this there are still some amazing deals to be had. Today’s project uses four more retiring (but still available) items including cardstock and ink in rich Merry Merlot. But my main focus was the retiring Eden’s Garden Stamp Set and coordinating Eden Dies. These are both now on sale at 60% off, but of course only while stocks last. With the addition of gold accents this gender-neutral gift tag will most ... VIEW POST
Tailor Made
One of the amazing things about papercrafting is the endless possibilities. Even though I may have used a product multiple times simple changes can make it seem fresh and new again. The masculine He’s The Man suite was new in the 2022/2023 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue but it seems like we’ve had it longer. The year before we were treated to the Tailor Made Tags Dies. I love these dies and have used them to tailor make other shaped pieces like the sentiment label on this Father’s Day gift ... VIEW POST
Highlighting Thanks
Once upon a time I was a card maker who couldn’t use anything but the card and ink that I’d acquired. Back then my designs were very simple and rarely included layers, But as my skills developed I realised that often what gives interest is texture and dimension. Sometimes that might be through the use of patterned papers, or lifting elements off the main surface. But right now my favourite method is to use fun techniques with embossing folders like this one from the Thanks & Hello Embossing ... VIEW POST
Stylish Shapes
Last November I completed my annual challenge to design and create 24 cards in 24 hours. It should have happened on World Card Making Day but was delayed due to Hurricane Fiona. Since then I’ve been bringing you the cards I made and providing instructions for your own personal use. Unfortunately some of my posts had to be delayed as products I used became temporarily ‘not orderable’. This is what happened with today’s birthday card featuring the Stepping Stones Stamp Set and the now back in ... VIEW POST
