One of the fondest memories I have from my childhood is our visits to see Grandma. She and Grandpa only lived about 18 miles away, but when you had no car getting there wasn't so easy. So when we were able to visit it was always a big event. Best clothes, and definitely best behaviour. I loved the look of their little maisonette, which was full of photos and trinkets and memories. The walls and furnishings weren't threadbare, but everything felt cosy and lived-in, if that makes ... VIEW POST
Group Birthday Wishes
This month's #simplestamping challenge from Stampin' Up! is to make a simple birthday card using just stamps, ink and paper. So without any expensive tools or complicated techniques I set to work on this week's Simple Sunday project. WOVEN THREADS PAPER This design is all about the Woven Threads 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP). I choose a piece where the two sides had a good contrast of colours and design and cut it to 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". Then I began to create a series of folds, ... VIEW POST
Woven Threads and Textured Threads
Last week my sister-in-law lost her 21 month battle with brain cancer. While we knew the end was near it still came as a shock to hear she had finally passed. She inspired everyone with her courage and determination to fight to the end, and she will be very much missed. So this morning I sat down to create a sympathy card using the Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set and Woven Threads Designer Series Paper (DSP). WOVEN THREADS I began by choosing the Pretty Peacock design from the Woven Threads ... VIEW POST
Always looking ahead
Being a papercrafter can be a little confusing at times. While everyone else is enjoying summer weather we are already thinking of autumn and even Christmas. Earlier this week Stampin' Up! revealed their 2019 Holiday Catalogue to demonstrators and I'm eagerly awaiting my new goodies. In the meantime there's always lots in the Annual Catalogue to play with. For today's Simple Sunday project I wanted to explore the Very Versailles Stamp Set some more. I love the collection of images and the ... VIEW POST
Ahoy There Seaside Friends
All this hot and sunny weather makes me glad I live overlooking the bay. There's a nice cooling breeze coming off the water and I can see for miles. This was the excuse I needed to finally get to work on a seaside-themed frame that I've been thinking about. Mostly I've used products from the Come Sail Away suite, but there's some other seaside extras too. BASIC BACKGROUND The display area of the frame is a little under 12" x 12", so I could simply trim some 12" x 12" Designer Series ... VIEW POST
Discovering Diamonds
Well today's project is one of those "happened while I wasn't paying attention" kind of things. There I was playing with some Mini Pizza Boxes and Woven Threads Designer Series Paper, with a vague thought about a masculine treat box. Before I knew it I'd been inspired to create diamonds for the accent using a punch and trimmer. A SIMPLE START The project began with the Mini Pizza Box. I decided to create a wrap for it using two 10" strips of paper from the Woven Threads 12" x 12" ... VIEW POST
