I mentioned a few days ago that I’m experimenting with some mixed media techniques. After all, there’s a lot of cross-over between cardmaking and other paper crafts and I never know where my next idea will come from. I’m not a painter but paint can give great texture. It’s not always a brilliant surface for stamping though so I’ve pretty much avoided it. However today’s simple Sunday project has an amazing textured paint background. Of course it’s a bit of a cheat, and I have the designers at Stampin’ Up! to thank for that.

TEXTURED PAINT
I began this simple card using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
Next I turned to the In Good Taste 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack for the textured paint effect paper. After cutting a 3″ x 4″ piece I mounted it onto Misty Moonlight Card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I used more liquid glue to fix the assembled layers to the front of the card base.
I could have used more of the textured paint paper on the inside of the card and envelope but I had a different plan.
LOVELY YOU LOVELY STAMPS
Next I pulled out the Lovely You stamp set and punch bundle. As well as a great variety of sentiments, the stamp set also includes some flower and leaf images. However I wanted an image that could be easy to overlook, a little decorative element.
Using Misty Moonlight ink I first stamped the image in the centre of the flap on a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Next I stamped it in the centre of a layer of Very Vanilla Card. Then using liquid glue I fixed this layer inside my card base. All I had left to stamp was the sentiment.

The paint textured paper actually reminded me of waves so the “Miles apart but still in my heart” sentiment seemed particularly fitting. Using Misty Moonlight ink I stamped it onto a 1″ wide strip of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I shaped each end of the strip using the rounded end option on the Lovely Label Pick A Punch. Once I’d attached the punched sentiment to the front of my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals my project was complete.
