If the past few days have taught me anything it’s never to underestimate the power of nature and the sea. We survived Hurricane Dorian with only minor damage but many parts of the Maritimes were not so lucky. It will probably be some time before the full cost of the storm will be understood. Today though, all is calm and the early morning sun is shining off the water in the bay. Despite the scary weekend, I love living by the sea.
Today’s project is another that I created a little while ago for the Wallace Museum gift shop.

STORMY BACKGROUND
This 4″ x 6″ pocket photo album started out with a very unappealing cover so I started by replacing that. I found this really stormy looking piece in the Perennial Essence 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack and cut it to fit the original cardboard cover. All I did was use Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to stick it onto the cover piece.
To add some contrast I used the long ‘rope’ die from the Smooth Sailing Dies to cut a piece of Balmy Blue Card. Then I used liquid glue to fix that to the DSP layer.
YOU ME AND THE SEA
The “You me and the sea” sentiment layer is a 3″ x 4″ card from the Come Sail Away Memories & More Card Pack. I simply fixed to the background with liquid glue.

That just left the lighthouse image from the Sailing Home Stamp Set. First, using Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the image onto some Whisper White Card. Then I cut it out using the coordinating die from the Smooth Sailing Dies. Once that was done I used liquid glue to add it to the cover piece.
With lighthouse added I simply slid the assembled piece back into the cover pocket on the album and I was finished.
If you haven’t yet seen it, here’s the Stampin’ Up! video showing all the contents of the Come Sail Away Memories & More Card pack.

LAST CHANCE FOR THE HALLOWEEN PAPER PUMPKIN KIT
Today is the 10th of the month and that means it’s your last chance to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin and get the September kit.
In case you missed it, the kit has a Halloween theme and contains 20 food-safe 2″ cube boxes. As you can see from the promotional image, it may well have a ‘skeleton’ motif. The kits will start shipping towards the end of this week.

If you wait until tomorrow to subscribe you will receive the October kit which will ship around October 15th. I’ll be able to share more about that after I’ve seen the first sneak peek in the morning.
OK so that’s all for today. Now things have calmed down here I’m off to make some new projects. Whatever you have planned, I hope you’re able to find a little time to be creative too.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Sailing Home Stamp Set and coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies using the single ‘bundle’ item number. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. You’ll notice I’ve included both options in the list below so you can explore this deal further if you wish.
Not sure if it’s the way the light is hitting it in the photograph, Tracy, but it looks quite stormy and dramatic in the background behind your stamped image. From what you have shared here, I gather it is the DSP that is so appropriate. It looks an ideal piece however and I can only imagine how such an item would appeal to others living in that part of the country too. Beautifully done!
Thank you Geraldine, yes it’s the pattern on the Designer Series Paper that created that stormy effect. Quite a surprise when most people probably think of the Perennial Essence DSP as being all about flowers.
