Time’s Up For Copper Embossing

April 29, 2020 Leave a Comment

Once again this morning’s project uses a couple of retiring products. My plan was to create an elegant card in shades of brown to show off the copper embossed sentiment. I think I succeeded.

Elegant card with perfume bottles image and copper embossed "A beautiful person like you deserves a beautiful day like this" sentiment created using the Fanciful Fragrance Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! #papercraftwithme

FANCIFUL FRAGRANCE

This project began with the large perfume bottles image from the retiring Fanciful Fragrance Stamp Set. Using Sahara Sand ink I first stamped it into a piece of Very Vanilla Card. Then I decided that the image would be my coordinating feature so I stamped it across the bottom left corner of another layer of Very Vanilla Card. Finally I stamped it across the bottom left corner of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope.

With the main stamping done I then used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease using a Bone Folder to create a card base. Then I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix the Very Vanilla layer with the partial image on the inside.

COPPER ACCENTS

Next on the front of the card I used liquid glue to attach a strip of Copper Foil Sheet. In no time at all I was ready to complete the focal point for the card.

I wiped the piece with the complete perfume bottles image with a retiring Embossing Buddy to remove any oils and static. Then I stamped the sentiment overlapping the bottles with VersaMark ink. I sprinkled the sticky ink with retiring Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. Then after removing a few stray specks, I melted the rest using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).

To complete the card I mounted the stamped and embossed piece onto some Early Espresso Card with liquid glue. Then I added the assembled layers to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and I was done.

I set out to create an elegant card and I think I succeeded. The stamping and layering is simple, but the copper embossing really adds a wow factor. I will certainly miss seeing copper embossing powder in the Stampin’ Up! catalogue.
