Yesterday my granddaughter Alyssa decided to spend some of her birthday money. So with Mummy’s help she ordered a whole set of books online. I wasn’t surprised as she’s a voracious reader and has quite the collection already. So as I sat down to make today’s project I couldn’t help but make her a bookmark. The new Treasures Of Life Stamp Set had the perfect image for this simple but special gift.
SIMPLE TREASURES
This was such a quick and easy gift to make and I began with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Whisper White Card.
Before doing anything else I shaped the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Then I chose the adult and child hands image from the Treasures Of Life Stamp Set. Using Basic Gray ink I stamped the image towards the bottom of the strip.
Next I wanted to add a subtle touch of colour to the background. This was a simple process using Seaside Spray ink and one of the new Blending Brushes.
Once the background was done I set to work colouring the image using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. First I coloured all three hands using the Ivory marker. Where there were creases on the hands I went over it a second time to make those areas slightly darker. Then I used the Rococo Rose makers to colour in the heart image.
To finish my gift I threaded some Whisper White 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon through the slot at the top. Then I tied the ribbon in a simple knot and I was done. Quick and easy, but special all the same.
