A couple of days ago I was working with the Detailed Trio Punch to create a gift tag. While I was filming the short video tutorial I was reminded that it’s called a trio punch for a reason. As well as the oval hole that I used for my tag, there are two other punch elements. One adds a little floral style motif in the corner, while the other rounds the corner itself.
So for today’s quick and easy project design I decided to put the corner rounder to work.

POSITIVELY PURPLE
It’s no secret that purple is my favourite colour, so I couldn’t resist this lovely pattern from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP). This 12″ x 12″ pack of DSP is one of the free Sale-A-Bration items available with a $60 order (before shipping and taxes).
I began by cutting the DSP and attaching it to a layer of Whisper White Card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I wrapped two pieces of Gorgeous Grape 1/4″ Mini Stripe Ribbon around the centre and secured it on the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive.
TIP – When using DSP as a floating layer (without an obvious mat underneath) I always fix it to some card to give it more strength. Glueing it to the card and then cutting or punching the two layers together avoids the hassle of lining up the pieces afterwards.
Next I took another layer of Whisper White Card and used liquid glue to attach a 3/4″ strip of the DSP down the right-hand edge.
One final piece of the DSP was attached to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope with liquid glue. Then, following the edge of the flap, I the DSP to shape with Paper Snips.
Keeping with my purple theme, I pulled out the Gorgeous Grape ink pad. Then I stamped the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from the All That You Are Stamp Set onto some Whisper White Card.
All that was left was to use my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
PUNCH EVERY CORNER (ALMOST)
It was the corner option on the Detailed Trio Punch that inspired my project, so I decided to go all out.
First I punched all four corners on the card base. Then I punched all four corners on the mounted DSP layer. Finally I punched all four corners on the second Whisper White layer.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals I fixed the layered DSP onto the card base. Then I fixed the second Whisper White layer on the inside with liquid glue.
All that was left was the sentiment.
For some reason at this point I set the Detailed Trio Punch aside and went over to my Big Shot and Magnetic Platform. Then I cut out the sentiment using the #2 circle die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.
I attached the sentiment to the front of my card and my project was finished.
It’s only now as I sit and write my blog post I wonder why I didn’t just round the corners on the square piece. Oh well, perhaps I’ll save that for a future project.
You’ll find the gift tag project I mentioned and the video tip for the Detailed Trio Punch in my blog post Custom-Coloured Leafy Trellis.
