Today is International Women’s Day and I decided I wanted to create a project to celebrate a woman that I admire immensely, my daughter. Like many people she juggles a family, home and work commitments. Despite all the stresses that life has thrown at her, including the death of her brother in 2017, she continues to inspire me with her humour and resilience. I couldn’t be more proud of her.

SIMPLE LAYERS
I began my project by cutting and scoring some Thick Whisper White Card using my Stampin’ Trimmer. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base. Next, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue I added a layer of Berry Burst Card, followed by a piece from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper pack.
In top of the DSP I added some scrap strips of card. First Shaded Spruce, then Lemon Lime Twist and finally Berry Burst.
UNSTOPPABLE & PROUD
The Unstoppable & Proud sentiment from the Strong & Beautiful Stamp Set was perfect for the front of the card. So I stamped it onto some Whisper White Card using Berry Burst ink. Then I punched it out using the Everyday Label Punch.

I fixed the sentiment over the card strips with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was complete.
The Strong & Beautiful Stamp Set is a sentiment only set and has options for both the front and inside of cards. I chose a smaller but equally perfect sentiment and stamped it in the centre of a layer of Whisper White Card using Berry Burst ink.
FINISHING TOUCHES
I wasn’t quite finished with the Whisper White layer. I pulled out the Animal Outing Stamp Set that coordinates with the Animal Expedition DSP and selected the branch with the frog.
Avoiding the frog at the end of the branch, I inked up the stamp using Shaded Spruce ink. Then I stamped it coming in from the top edge of the layer. I repeated this a number of times until I’d gone across the whole of the top edge.

Then I used liquid glue to fix the layer inside the card base.
Finally I stamped the branch along the top of the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope and my project was complete.
This is a really simple design for a card but it’s all about the two sentiments. My daughter is unstoppable and I really am proud of her every day.
DESIGN CHALLENGES

The design for my project was inspired by two challenges.
First the Just Add Ink Challenge #447. This is a sketch challenge which I don’t seem to enter very often, but this one was perfect for what I had in mind today.
I’m sure you can see the influence of the sketch on my finished project

The second challenge influence comes from The Paper Players PP431. Their challenge is on the theme of ‘spring fever’.
Well for me nothing says spring fever more than watching the birds all busy preparing their nests. The DSP I used really captures that feeling don’t you think?
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – The Animal Outing Stamp Set used for the leaves on my project can be purchased by itself. Or you can also get it as part of a bundle with the coordinating Animal Friends Thinlits (not used today). If you want the stamp set and the dies you’ll save 10% if you order them using the special bundle item number. I’ve included both options below so you can look at this if you wish.
This is delightful, and I think your daughter will love it! I just used this paper myself recently and it works perfectly for your encouragement card! So happy you shared it with us at the Players!
Thank you Leanne.
Beautiful card. Love the colors.
Thank you Cathy, but I have to thank the Stampin’ Up! designers for the colours as I lifted them straight off the Designer Series Paper.
Such a fabulous card to encourage your daughterTracy. The combination of vibrant colours and sweet images on the DSP is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week.
Thank you Jan
You have really used that DSP well Tracey, it makes a great background for the clean details of your heartfelt focal piece on top. Love how you used that to link back to the DSP colours too! Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week. Kim
