Oh my goodness am I tired! Yesterday at 5.55 pm, with just 5 minutes to spare I completed my World Card Making Day challenge. I’d decided for WCMD that I’d once again attempt to design and create from scratch, 24 cards in 24 hours. If that wasn’t enough I also wrote a blog post and did a load of washing in that time too. No I’m not superwoman, just completely daft.
Yesterday I was definitely running on adrenaline and 2 hours sleep, today I’m tired. So instead of making another project I’ve got one I made and photographed last week. It’s a bookmark in my Harry Potter series.
I began as always with the base of the bookmark. I wanted it to have the look of a wooden desk and knew exactly where to find the paper I needed. First I cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of the wood plank paper from the Come To Gather 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Then with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached it to a strip of Whisper White Card.
When the glue had dried I shaped the top of the strip using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Then I shaped the bottom of the bookmark using the corner rounder option on the Detailed Trio Punch. Finally I threaded some Whisper White Baker’s Twine through the slot and secured it. Then I set aside the bookmark while I got to work on the decoration.
Wingardium Leviosa is the spell that makes things levitate and in the movie the children begin by practicing on a feather.
I began by using the Make A Difference Stamp Set with Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the words onto Whisper White Card. Once that was done I used liquid glue to mount the words onto some Pool Party Card. Then I glued the assembled layers onto the prepared bookmark.
Finally using Paper Snips I cut a feather from a piece from the Bird Ballad DSP pack. Once I’d glued the feather overlapping the sentiment, my job was done.
24 CARDS IN HOURS FOR WCMD
I was very late with my decision to repeat my 24 cards in 24 hours challenge for WCMD for a fourth year. I’m glad I did. But I’m also glad I have almost a whole year before I have to decide whether to repeat it. You know it’s funny but when I finally sat down for dinner last night hubby went to grab a DVD to watch. The one he chose? Fools Rush In. I’m sure the irony was completely lost on him.
I’ll be showing you all the cards I made during my WCMD challenge here on my blog in the coming weeks, but here’s a teaser…
For now though, I’ll just leave you with the product list for today’s bookmark project. I’m off for a nap.
