I went to bed last night with no idea what I was going to make for today’s blog. By the time I awoke I had an idea for an inspirational fridge magnet. So out came the Sailing Home Stamp Set and the “Let hope be your anchor through the storms of life” sentiment. In no time at all my idea had taken shape.

STORMY SEAS
On the side of my fridge I have a collection of magnets. These ones are all ‘advertising’ from local businesses and organisations, and quite useful at times. I did however end up with two from my vet so I decided it was time I repurposed one.
Using Tear & Tape Adhesive I began by attaching a piece from the Perennial Essence 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the magnet. My regular readers will know I’ve used this particular design for a stormy background before, but it works, so why not?
With the DSP attached I then cut off the excess with Paper Snips using the edge of the magnet as my guide.
STORMS
Next I turned to the Sailing Home Stamp Set. On some Very Vanilla Card I first stamped the anchor image using Basic Gray ink. Then with Blueberry Bushel ink I stamped the “Let hope … “sentiment.
After cutting out the stamped pieces using dies from the Smooth Sailing Dies I decided to add some ‘rope’ to my design. I tied some Crumb Cake twine from the Nature’s Twine Combo Pack to the top of the anchor. As the twine came off the spool it created loops which were perfect for what I had in mind. Now I was ready to put my magnet project together.
First I used added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment. Next I secured the twine loops to the back of the sentiment too, leaving the anchor free. Then I fixed the sentiment in place on the magnet. To finish I added the anchor to the background with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.
So now my magnet will move from the side of the fridge to the front. We are certainly experiencing life’s storms right now but with hope (and a little papercrafting) we will get through it.
