Four days after returning from an extended vacation in Europe I’m still trying to get myself back into a routine, and that includes working on projects for the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Design Team. This week the challenge is WWYS173 Make A Difference. The Make A Difference Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! is another great alphabet set but I ignored all the individual letters and instead used other elements in the set to create a pretty gift tag.
With the aid of my Stamparatus stamp positioning platform, the floral image from the Make a Difference Stamp Set was stamped in each corner of a 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Whisper White Card using Rich Razzleberry ink. The sentiment from the same stamp set actually says ‘made with love’ but I inked it up with Bermuda Bay ink and then covered the word ‘made’ with a piece of sellotape before stamping it in the centre of the card.
To colour the floral images I used a Blender Pen to pull in the ink from the edges of the flowers. The leaves were coloured using my Blender Pen after picking up some Old Olive ink from inside the lid of the ink pad. As I was colouring the leaves I let the Blender Pen pull in some of the Rich Razzleberry ink from the edges of the leaves to create a softer, more blended look.
The completed panel was then attached to a layer of Silver Foil Sheet with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
I thought that the panel needed a little more dimension and so I stamped the floral image onto a scrap of Whisper White Card using Rich Razzleberry ink and coloured it to match the other images. Then I cut out the image with my Paper Snips and fixed it on top of the floral image in the top left corner of the main panel using small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. All the flowers were then ‘painted’ using a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, and a single So Saffron pearl from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls pack was added to the centre of the fussy cut floral image.
Now that the stamped panel was complete I created a 3″ x 3″ folded tag base from a piece of Whisper White Card cut and scored using my Stampin Trimmer. I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder, then punched a hole in the top left corner at the back with a 1/8″ Circle Handheld Punch before threading a length of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine through the hole and tying it in a simple knot.
Finally the assembled layers were added to the front of the folded tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my all occasion gift tag was done.
If you look closely at the fussy cut piece you’ll see that I didn’t cut faithfully around every individual leaf, that would have taken me forever and I’d probably have cut off a few leaves in the process. Instead I left some areas of white card between the leaves but once the piece was attached to the tag you have to look quite hard to see them.
CHALLENGE
I mentioned that this project was my contribution to the Design Team for this week’s What Will You Stamp? Challenge, WWYS173 – Make A Difference. The What Will You Stamp challenge is really simple, make anything you like using at least one image from the featured stamp set, then upload your image to our challenge gallery.
On Sunday we’ll randomly choose one person to be our winner and as well as bragging rights and a winners badge for their social media accounts, they also receive an invitation to be our Guest Designer on our challenge two weeks later. It might even be you!
Well that’s all from me for today. I’m off to have another cup of coffee while I start working on my extensive to do list.
