Today I need to finish making up some care packages to ship to my daughter. Some time ago I bought some wonderful little treats and gifts that I thought she would love, but they haven’t yet made it into the mail. That will be rectified later, but first I wanted to make a colourful bookmark to add to the box.
WONDERFUL BUT QUICK
I’m still working my way through some of my paper scraps and for this project picked up the Bird Ballad 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Of all the designs in the pack I must be honest and say I don’t think I’ve ever used the colourful stripes. So today that was where I started.
First I cut a piece 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ and glued it to a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White Card. Then going back to the same DSP sheet I turned it over and chose a pretty blue and grey bird image. Using my Paper Snips I carefully cut out the bird before adding him to the bottom of the bookmark.
Going back to the Bird Ballad DSP once again I picked up a scrap with a pretty blue floral image. So I cut that out as well and fixed that towards the top of the bookmark.
With the cutting and gluing done I then punched the top using the oval hole option on the Detailed Trio Punch. I threaded three 6″ pieces of Whisper White Baker’s Twine through the hole and tied them together in a simple knot.
To finish, I used Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the “You are wonderful” sentiment from the Perfectly Framed Stamp Set onto the DSP. Fortunately the stamp set is photopolymer so I could see through it to get the placement just right. Phew!
And that was it, one colourful bookmark for my wonderful daughter. Now to add a few more final bits to the box and get it in the mail. Are you sending care packages to friends and family? Let me know what kinds of things you are including.
