Today I’m continuing with my Retiring List highlights with a little paper and ribbon. But at the same time I also wanted to remind you of some of the wonderful things that will still be available. So my project today combines the two with a little #simplestamping.

PAPER AND RIBBON
My simple card actually began with the desire to use the gorgeous Mint Macaron 1/2″ basket weave ribbon that is now retiring. First though I had to create the card base and add the background. So using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored some Thick Whisper White Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I turned to the retiring ‘Tis The Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. While there are lots of Christmas type patterns, I love this pack because of the choice of non-Christmas designs. In the end I selected a sheet with simple diagonal line and dots arrangement.
First I cut a 2-1/4″ strip of the DSP and attached it to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then with Paper Snips I trimmed off the excess using the edge of the flap as a guide.
To decorate the inside of the card I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strip of the DSP. Once again using liquid glue I fixed the strip along the bottom edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Card. Then I glued the assembled layer inside the card base.
From the remaining DSP I cut a piece 3″ x 5-1/2″ and attached it to the front of the card base.
To complete the background I cut a 5-1/2″ piece of the 1/2″ Mint Macaron Basket Weave Ribbon. To stop the ends from fraying I attached some Tear & Tape Adhesive to the back of each end. Then with more Tear & Tape I fixed the ribbon along the bottom edge of the DSP.
WONDERFUL SENTIMENT
Now I was ready to add my “you are simply wonderful” sentiment from the Bloom & Grow Stamp Set.

Using Shaded Spruce ink I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card base in the space below the DSP. This was really easy to do as the stamp is made from see-through photopolymer material.
Now while I liked the card, I did feel it needed a little bit of embellishment. But what? The ribbon I’d chosen comes from a pack called “Basket Weave and Metallic Ribbon Combo” and the other ribbon is a 1/4″ metallic copper. But although I didn’t want to use this second ribbon, it did give me an idea.
I decided to add a scattering of three of the copper Star Designer Elements. This really added to the card and emphasised the “you are simply wonderful” sentiment. At last my quick and easy card was complete.
