The other day as I was making a pregnancy congratulations card using the Wonderful Moments Stamp Set I wondered if I could use the set to make a masculine card. Well apparently I could, as today’s project shows.

WONDERFUL MOMENTS
Although the three images in the Wonderful Moments Stamp Set are ladies, many of the sentiments can be used for masculine cards. I chose “Celebrating a special day with a special wish for a very special person” which is not gender specific.
I simply stamped the sentiment into some Whisper White Card using Night of Navy ink. Then I cut it out using the #4 (largest) square die from the Stitched Shapes Dies keeping the sentiment towards the top.
Next I wrapped some 3/8″ Denim Ribbon around the bottom of the piece and secured it on the back with Mini Glue Dots.
Finally I used more Mini Glue Dots to attach a metal ship’s wheel embellishment from the Sail Away Trinkets. In no time at all my sentiment layer was complete, and I set it aside while I worked on the rest of the card.
SAILING THEME
Continuing the sailing theme I chose the small yacht design from the Come Sail Away 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.
First I cut a piece for the front of the card and mounted it onto a layer of Whisper White Card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
Next I cut a 3/4″ strip and fixed that down the right-hand side of a another layer of Whisper White Card.
Finally I glued one last piece of DSP to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then using Paper Snips I cut the DSP to shape using the envelope flap as a guide.

For my card base I chose Night of Navy Card and attached the main DSP panel to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I used more Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the assembled sentiment on top of the background layer.
To complete the project I used liquid glue to to fix the assembled Whisper White layer on the inside of the card base and I was done.

So there you have it, a masculine card created using a stamp set that at first glance appears to be quite feminine. All you need is to pair it with more masculine colours and images and it changes the whole feel of a sentiment. Sometimes it’s good to look past the obvious, don’t you think?

PURPLE POSY UPDATE
At the end of last week Stampin’ Up! gave us an update on the Purple Posy ink pad and refill.

In July, I told you Stampin’ Up! was testing another sample of Purple Posy ink and I’m excited to share that this sample passed the tests. Yay!
That doesn’t mean the ink color is ready to order just yet; however, things are moving forward. Stampin’ Up! have placed orders with the manufacturer to begin producing the ink pads and refills. We don’t yet know exactly when this ink will be available, but as soon as I hear more I will certainly let you know.
It certainly DOES work. Love that particular sentiment. The card is just great for a masculine card too! Thanks for the Purple Posy update too. Looking forward to that one for sure!!
Thank you Geraldine
when I first joined S.U. (15 yr. ago) whatever the set was for, that’s what it was used for; now, I think stampers are looking more closely at the sayings & adapting them to other celebrations; doing this is also good for the budget; thank you for sharing your card, but I was hoping we’d see a preg. congrats card.
Thank you Sue, you’re right crafters are being more imaginative with how they use their stamp sets and other tools. I made a pregnancy congratulations card a couple of days ago and you can see it in my blog post Celebrating a dream come true.
