The past few days have been both frustrating and amazing. I didn’t publish a blog post yesterday which is very unusual for me. On Thursday I’d booked to go whale watching in the Bay of Fundy with my granddaughter who’s visiting from the UK. Unfortunately we broke down before we made it to Brier Island causing us to miss our trip. However due to some wonderful people we met on Long Island, NS, we made onto a later sailing. As a result, we had to stay the night in a hotel before making the long journey home. Then the car broke down before we could return to the mainland, and once again those same locals came to our rescue. Lavena and Stanton, Cassandra, Rodney and others, we will be eternally grateful that you came into our lives.

BACK UP PLAN
With our plans for the past few days completely turned upside down I haven’t had a chance to design something completely new. So instead I wanted to show you a ‘thinking of you” card based on one I made about a month ago. The stamp set and embossing folder is the same, but I love the more masculine feel of the alternative Night of Navy colour scheme.
Having chosen my colours I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score the Night of Navy Card. After folding it along the scored line, I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create the A2 card base.
The Cane Weave embossing was my coordinating element so that’s what I grabbed next.
First I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card and embossed a 1″ strip along the bottom. I set this aside ready to be used later on the inside of my finished card.
Next I took a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope and put the flap into the side of the embossing folder. Then the only way to get the folder and envelope through the Cut & Emboss Machine was to carefully crank it through sideways.

WONDERFUL THOUGHTS
Next I cut two more pieces of Night of Navy Card, one 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ and the other 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″. Using the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder I embossed the smaller piece before mounting it onto the larger one with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
For the ribbon detail I marked a point on the top edge of the assembled layers, 2″ from the top left corner Then I marked a second point down the left side 2-3/4″ from the same corner before laying 5″ of Night of Navy 3/8″ Bordered Ribbon between the two marks. Once the ribbon was secured on the back using Tear & Tape Adhesive, I added the layers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now I chose “thinking of you” from the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set. Using Night of Navy ink I stamped it onto a 1-3/8″ x 1-7/8″ piece of Very Vanilla Card. Then I glued it onto a 1-1/2″ x 2″ piece of Night of Navy Card. Finally I attached the completed sentiment to the ribbon wrapped layer with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Once I’d glued the embossed Very Vanilla layer on the inside, my card was done.
So now I have some unpacking and washing to do before settling down to make a number of thank you cards. If you’re ever on Long Island, Nova Scotia, please make sure to pop in to the Long Island Trading store in Tiverton. Without the help of the owners, their staff and friends, our memories of our recent trip would be so different.
