Yesterday was both sad and uplifting, we marked our late son’s birthday and ate chocolate fudge cake. In the UK my daughter and granddaughter released balloons in his memory. We were all grateful for the many words of comfort given in person and via social media, and I think the day wasn’t quite as bad as we were dreading.
Like every day since we lost our son, the sun set and has risen again. It’s a new day and the future is unwritten, we move forward knowing that it’s exactly what he would have expected. Every day is a gift and we owe it to him to make the most of what we have been given.
Today’s project uses new Stampin’ Up! products that are available now (with a little sneak of some that will be available from June 1st when the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue goes live).
This card has a Thick Whisper White Card base with a layer of Soft Suede Card topped by a layer of the new Soft Sea Foam Card, all attached with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). On top of that there is half of a new Pearlised Doily tucked behind a strip from the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).
I love the new Rich Razzleberry 1/4″ Velvet Ribbon and created an interesting shape by folding the ribbon around and holding it in place with Mini Glue Dots before adding to the front of the card.
From another piece from the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) I used Paper Snips to cut two of the large daisies, trimming off some of the petals on one so I that I could layer the two pieces on top of each other using a Stampin’ Dimensional to create a lovely 3D effect.
I cut an extra flower centre and, using a Mini Glue Dot to hold it on the end of my tweezers, I pressed the piece onto the surface of a VersaMark Ink Pad, dipped it into Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder, tapped off the excess and melted the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high). While the embossing was still hot I dipped it back into the embossing powder, tapped off the excess and melted the rest, then repeated this process again so I had a thick layer of embossing. The flower centre was then added to the flower on my card with a Mini Glue Dot.
Using Soft Suede ink I stamped the ‘thank you’ sentiment onto the front of the card.
In the bottom right corner on a layer of Whisper White Card I stamped the small leaf image from the Love What You Do Stamp Set using Tranquil Tide ink. This layer was fixed inside the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
I stamped another leaf image onto the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope and my project was complete.
I really love this new Share What You Love suite of products and have lots more projects to show you in the coming weeks and months. I hope you’ll join me again tomorrow for another new project and sneak peek. For now though here’s a look at the Love What You Do Stamp Set that is available now as one of the exclusive advance purchase bundles.
