Over the weekend I spend a fun two days at local craft fairs. Last year all were cancelled due to COVID, and I missed seeing my regular craft fair customers. I can’t tell you how good it was to find so many familiar faces seeking me out once again this year. One of the popular items on my table are bookmarks as they’re easy to slip inside a card to mail. So between now and my next event I’ll have to make more. Here’s a fresh, almost spring-like idea using the new Eden Garden Dies.
EDEN DIE BORDER
The Eden Dies are on early release from the Stampin’ Up! 2022 January to June Mini Catalogue. Today I wanted to play with one of the set that cuts a pretty leafy border design.
First I cut a 1″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Soft Sea Foam Card and covered the back with Adhesive Sheet. Then I placed the border die on top, lining up the straight edge of the die with the edge of the card. Finally I ran it through my Cut & Emboss Machine. As well as cutting the leafy pattern the die also includes a stitched line which really adds to the overall effect.
Now for the bookmark base I needed a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Basic White Card. After peeling off the back of the Adhesive Sheet I attached the straight edge of the die-cut piece to the edge of the Basic White Strip. Then using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch I shaped one end of the assembled layers and added the ribbon slot.
For my sentiment I chose “Hello There” from the Eden’s Garden Stamp Set. Using Evening Evergreen ink I stamped it onto the white section of the bookmark.
Finally I threaded a piece of Evening Evergreen 3/8″ Chevron Weave Ribbon through the slot. Then using Mini Glue Dots I secured the ribbon to the top of the bookmark, and with that my project was complete.
It was only after I was done it occurred to me that the border die only cuts on the fancy leaf side. That means that I could use that die to add a decorative edge to any card layer. So now I have more project ideas running around my head. Watch this space!
