Every month Stampin’ Up! sets Demonstrators a #SimpleStamping challenge. For March our #SimpleStamping design needs to be a card with a wedding, funeral or baby theme. As I was looking through my collection of stamp sets I came across Better Together. It’s in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue and I’m ashamed to say it’s not seen a whole lot of use. I’ve no idea why. Not only does it have sentiments for weddings, funerals and babies, it’s also for birthdays and ‘just a note’ too.
So with the Better Together Stamp Set in my hand I could start to think about my card design. #SimpleStamping encourages us to get right back to basics and create projects for the beginning stamper. This is very different from ‘clean and simple’ which is more about the layout and can often use complicated techniques.
The #SimpleStamping premise is very straightforward, it’s aimed at beginning stampers who will have stamps, ink and paper and not much else. They don’t yet know all the techniques and tricks that we’ve come to take for granted. They certainly don’t have gadgets like a Big Shot or Heat Tool, and maybe not even punches. So with that in mind, here’s my Simple Sunday, #simple stamping design for March.

BETTER TOGETHER
For my card I needed just two stamps from the Better Together Stamp Set and one ink pad.
I began by using Flirty Flamingo ink to stamp the ‘Congratulations on your new arrival’ sentiment onto a strip of Whisper White Card.
Then I stamped the star outline image randomly over a layer of Powder Pink Card.
Next I stamped the same star around the edges of a layer of Whisper White Card to create a border. Then I finished by stamping the star randomly over the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
SIMPLE ASSEMBLY
I created the card base using my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Then I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix the stamped Whisper White layer inside the card base.
Next, using more liquid glue, I attached the stamped Powder Pink layer to the front, followed by the sentiment.

Finally, I tied a simple bow from a piece of Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon. Then once I’d attached it to the sentiment with a Mini Glue Dot my project was complete.
This really was a quick and easy card to make, but if you’re not a beginning stamper it’s easy to step-up too. You could add layers of Flirty Flamingo Card under the background and/or the sentiment. It you have it could use a Big Shot to cut the sentiment with a die from the Rectangle Stitched Framelits. How about heat embossing the stars and/or the sentiment. You could even add a little more embellishment with rhinestones, pearls or sequins. That’s beauty of card making, once you’ve got the basics the possibilities are endless.
I like this card as a starting point and your ideas to step it up. I’ll be giving this one a try.
Thank you Cathy. Funny enough stepping it up never seems to be a problem for most papercrafters, paring it back to the absolute basics is much more challenging.
Hi Tracy, thank you for sharing your #simplestamping project for March. Congratulations you’re one of our lucky recipients this month for a Prize. You’ll receive an email with details around the 14th of next month, hugs Paula Gorry, DDM, Stampin’ Up! UK
Thank you Paula, I can’t wait for the e-mail.
