It’s no secret that I love daisies, especially large bright gerberas. But for today’s project I decided to try something altogether different. Instead of colourful flowers on a white background I thought it would be fun to reverse that. So my flowers would be completely white while everything else would provide the colour. One of my favourite colours to pair with white is blue, especially dark blue. This always seems to create an elegant result that never gets old. Then with that basic plan in mind I set to work.

LAYERED DAISIES
I began by creating the daisies using the Cheerful Daisies Dies. Initially I’d planned to use the three individual daisy dies, but as I looked at the larger triple daisy die I decided that would work too. So I die- cut the large shape from Basic White Card. This was followed by the three detail pieces that fit both the individual dies and the triple flower. Then I simply layered the detail pieces onto the larger shape using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
For my bookmark base I cut a 2-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Night of Navy Card along with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic White Card. Then using a Blending Brush I added a light layer of Night of Navy ink over the white piece. With that done I mounted the inked layer onto the Night of Navy strip leaving an even border at the sides.

As I prepared to add the layered daisies I decided I didn’t like the leaves attached at one end. So I took my Paper Snips and trimmed them off! That was much better, and I glued the rest of the daisies to the bookmark using liquid glue.
To finish I added a hole at the top of the bookmark using the slot option on the Very Best Trio Punch. Finally I threaded 6″ of 3/8″ Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon through the slot and secured it in place with a Mini Glue Dot.
In no time at all I had a very elegant bookmark. It was only afterwards that I realised the border on the ribbon mimicked the dark border on the card. I’ll have to remember that detail for future projects!
