Have you taken advantage of the Seasonal Sale yet? Quite a few of my customers were quick off the mark and have already saved on card, ink pads and dies. Yesterday’s blog project included the Tasteful Labels Dies which is one of my favourites when cutting out larger sentiments. For smaller sentiments my goto is the Ornate Frames Dies and it features on today’s gift box idea.

QUICK BOX
While I do make my own boxes it’s handy to have an instant option. The Mini Paper Pumpkin box is one of my favourites as everything is done for me. All I have to do is fold along the scored lines before folding over the sides to hold it all in place. At 3-3/4″ x 5-7/8″ x 1″ this food-safe box isn’t a bad size either.
The box is plain white which means it’s a great blank canvas for any kind of decoration. Today I decided to leave the box as it is and simply add a decorative layer on top.
For my background I went with a fancy but super simple option, Paper Lattice. This comes in packs containing ten pieces, each 3-1/4″ x 5″. In the past I’ve used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix them to projects but here I went with tiny Glue Dots left over from one of my Paper Pumpkin kits. They are the perfect size to fit under the solid squares on the lattice. You could use regular Mini Glue Dots cut or rolled.
With the lattice in place I was ready to add the decoration and sentiment.
ORNATE THANKS AND FRAMES
I began with some Just Jade Card and using a Blending Brush added some Just Jade ink over the surface. Then over the top of that I brushed patches of Shaded Spruce and Evening Evergreen inks. The effect is subtle but definitely adds interest to the plain card.
Once the inking was done I cut it out using a die from the Forever Flourishing Dies set and put it to one side.
Next I needed a sentiment and I chose “Thanks” from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set. I stamped it onto Thick Basic White Card using Shaded Spruce ink, before cutting it out using a die from the Ornate Frames set.

Assembling the pieces was quick and easy and done in reverse.
First I flipped over the sentiment and put a few Mini Glue Dots on the back. Next I cut 12″ of gold cord from the Simply Elegant Trim pack and created a series of random loops. Then, using the glue dots I secured the cord to the back of the sentiment.
Over the back of the sentiment I then added Stampin’ Dimensionals and removed the backing papers. Now I could place the sentiment on top of the leafy die-cut piece so everything was secured together. Finally I attached the assembled sentiment and decoration on top of the lattice and my box was done.
If you haven’t seen the Ornate Frames Dies do take a look, they are so versatile and great for smaller sentiments. For larger sentiments check out my other goto, the Tasteful Labels Dies. If you missed it, I used a die from the Tasteful Labels set on yesterday’s card project in my blog post Snowflake Wishes for winter thanks.
