On Sunday my daughter and granddaughter walked into our house after flying from the UK to surprise me, with the help of my hubby. So all my plans for this week have drastically changed. Today’s blog post will be fairly short and sweet with a thanks cards and details of a special one day Stampin’ Up! sale.
THE CARD
I began with the card base, a piece of Thick Whisper White Card cut and scored using my Stampin’ Trimmer. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I lightly spritzed a layer of Sahara Sand Card with clean water and placed it inside the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I placed the folder directly onto the multipurpose platform, put a cutting pad on top and rolled it through my Big Shot hinge first, and back again. Then I set the piece aside to dry.
I decided to use the embossing as my coordinating element for the project. So using the same process I embossed the bottom 1″ of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
Finally I cut a piece of Whisper White Card to line the card base and embossed a 1″ strip across the bottom of that too.
THANKS
The thanks image is a single stamp called Bee Thankful and I stamped it onto Whisper White Card with Tuxedo Black ink. I also stamped the bee part of the image onto some scrap Whisper White Card.
This large image is perfect for colouring and I decided to use Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. The colours I chose were light and dark Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.
Once everything was coloured I used Paper Snips to cut out one of the bees from the scrap card, and from the other piece just the head. Then I attached the head to the bee and added that to the main layer, all with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). This added some subtle but effective dimension to the bee.
ASSEMBLING THE CARD
With everything prepared I could then start putting the card together.
First the embossed Sahara Sand layer was attached to the front of the card base with liquid glue.
Then the partially-embossed Whisper White layer was fixed to the inside of the card base with liquid glue.
Next came the thanks layer attached to a layer of Grapefruit Grove Card with liquid glue, then added to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally I wrapped the card front with a Grapefruit Grove piece from the Nature’s Twine Pack, and tied it in a simple bow.
I have to say I really love this Bee Thankful Stamp is such a pretty image and so easy to colour. It makes me smile just looking at it.

Oh my goodness! Didn’t see this one coming! HOW EXCITING!!! Have a WONDERFUL visit with your girls! And while this morning’s card is a real cutie, your other “news” definitely takes centre stage this morning! So happy for you! Think you can get your little one on another YouTube video? Hint hint, nudge, nudge. Just asking; that’s all. 😊 Just have a really fun time while you can.
Thank you Geraldine. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind, it’s all down to the pressure of time (flying visit and all).
You shouldn’t be making cards while your family is with you, we love seeing what you make but take some time off and enjoy your family, we can see your work next week xxxx
Haha Maggie, I read this just after spending a couple of hours in my craft studio. My granddaughter was insistent that we do some crafting today.
