I’m continuing my quest to combine retiring products with some sneak peeks of new ones. Today’s retiring products are the Tropical Chic Stamp Set and coordinating Tropical Dies, alongside the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. My sneak peek is another new In Color, Just Jade. Like the Misty Moonlight I showed you yesterday, Just Jade has a muted feel, with grey undertones. I thought it would be perfect for this masculine thank you card.

NEUTRAL BASE
To ensure that the Just Jade focal point wasn’t lost on a busy background I decided to use a neutral colour palette.
I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.
Then I turned to the retiring Woven Threads 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) for my background layer. Instead of mounting it onto the card leaving a border around it, I decided to cover the whole of the card front. Then I added a strip of Soft Suede Card along the edge of the fold. This was followed by a narrower strip of Early Espresso Card for contrast.
Next, on a layer of Very Vanilla Card I glued a narrow strip of the DSP along the right-hand edge. Then the assembled layer was glued inside the card base.
One final piece of the DSP was glued to the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess with Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as a guide.
JUST JADE
All I had left to do was create the Just Jade panel and add my sentiment.
The leafy panel is a die from the retiring Tropical Dies. However it doesn’t cut a square panel, but instead cuts out pieces from a layer. To make the separate panel as I’ve done I needed to add a die from the Layering Squares.

As I set to work I was reminded that the largest plain edge die from the Layering Squares was perfectly sized. I simply put the die on the Just Jade Card, then dropped the leafy die inside the square one. Then I ran the card through my die-cutting machine. The result was the panel you see on my card.
As I went to add the Just Jade panel I decided that I wanted it to stand out even more, so I cut two more panels. Using liquid glue I fixed the three panels on top of each other creating a really thick piece. Then I glued that to the front of my card base.
All I had left to do was add the “thank you” sentiment from the Tropical Chic Stamp Set using Early Espresso ink, and I was done.
I’m really pleased with how today’s project turned out. It’s a simple layout that could easily be recreated with a different panel as the focal point. What do you think?
