It occurred to me too late yesterday that my last three projects were all in shades of blue. So when I sat down to make today’s project all I had in my mind was something that wasn’t blue. It was only as I looked at the open flower in the Prized Peony Stamp Set that I settled on Magenta Madness. And from there the card almost made itself.

PINK PEONY
The project began with the open peony image stamped onto Thick Whisper White Card using Magenta Madness ink. Then I stamped the two separate leaves a couple of times with Just Jade ink.
While the images are “Distinktive” with areas of light and shade, I did want to add some additional colour. So I took a Water Painter with a barely damp tip to do this. In addition, as Whisper White Card is not actually designed for ‘watercolouring’ I had to be very careful. So my solution was to gently touch the very tip of the brush onto the edge of the Magenta Madness ink pad to pick up the tiniest amount of ink. Then I quickly ‘painted’ the individual petals one at a time staring from the base to the tip.
Once the flower petals were done I switched to Mango Melody and painted in the flower centre. Finally I painted the leaves using Just Jade ink.
Now all I had to do was cut out the images using the coordinating dies from the Peony Dies set. Then I set them aside while I worked on the rest of the card.
SIMPLE LAYERS
My layer sizes came about by chance as I found a large scrap of Just Jade Card. Then I picked up some Whisper White Card that seemed a nice height. All I did was trim 1/2″ off the length so it would leave an even border on the Just Jade layer.
For the “love & thanks to a dear friend” sentiment I went back to the Prized Peony Stamp Set. Using Just Jade ink I stamped it in the top right corner of my Whisper White layer. Then I mounted it onto the Just Jade layer using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).

The die-cut pieces came next. I attached three leaves to the back of the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals, before using more to fix the flower to the bottom corner of my layered sentiment. The assembled layers were then attached to a card base of Thick Whisper White Card.
Now the basic design was settled I began to think about coordinating the inside of the card and the envelope. In the end I decided to repeat the painted flower and leaves.
On a layer of Whisper White Card I stamped the flower with Magenta Madness ink in the bottom right corner. Then I did the same on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. I didn’t want to fuss with masking off the flowers so I carefully stamped just a potion of the leaves coming in from the edges. With that done I painted the flowers and leaves as before.
To complete the project I used liquid glue to fix the Whisper White layer inside the card base and I was done.
I’m really pleased with how this turned out, such a difference from the blues of the past few days.
