In just a few days customers will be able to order from the Stampin’ Up! September to December 2024 Mini Catalogue. As an Independent Demonstrator I was able to order products early and I’ve finally had a chance to play. First on my wish list was the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set and coordinating dies. The ability to create a cute reindeer simply by layering three die-cut pieces together really appealed to me. In addition the clear font style and size of the sentiments are perfect for cards and other items too.

REINDEER ADAPTATION
Of course the minute I opened up the Reindeer Fun Dies I wanted to give these three builder pieces a try.
For the bottom layer I needed the die with the antlers and I cut two from Early Espresso Card. The second die is the one with solid ears and I cut two of these from Basic Beige Card. Finally I used the die with the ear outlines from scraps of Copper Clay Card. Of course it goes without saying that I forgot to back the card with Adhesive Sheet before die-cutting! Oh well, Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) would have to do.
So first I glued the three different coloured pieces on top of each other to create the stag. For the doe, I used my Paper Snips to trim the antlers off the remaining Early Espresso piece. Then I laid the Basic Beige piece on top just to be sure I’d trimmed enough, and trimmed a bit more. Once I was happy I glued these last three pieces together as before.
You might ask why I didn’t simply omit the Early Espresso layer? It did occur to me, but then I’d have to fiddle around with tiny bits of card to add the eyes and nose. My solution was was actually much simpler.

With the animals ready I now needed a background and I started by cutting a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Basic Beige Card. Then from the new Spendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack I found a simple pale blue sheet. After cutting the DSP to 3-3/4″ x 5″ I glued it onto the Basic Beige layer. Finally I glued the two reindeer peeking in from the bottom corners and trimmed off the excess with my Paper Snips.
CHRISTMAS SENTIMENT
Now I was ready for some stamping. From the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set I chose the “Christmas is better together” sentiment and an Early Espresso ink pad. After stamping the sentiment onto some Basic Beige Card I cut it out using the Modern Oval Punch. Then I added it to the blue background layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Before putting away the stamp set I picked out the leaping reindeer image. Then I stamped just his head coming in from the bottom left corner of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic Beige Card. This would be used to line my finished card.
I repeated the reindeer head in the bottom left-hand corner of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope too. Then I looked over and saw the rest of the blue DSP sheet. On a whim I glued the DSP to the flap of the envelope and trimmed off the excess with Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as my guide.
Now all I needed was an A2 card base and for that I started with a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Early Espresso Card. With the long side at the top I scored the card at 4-1/4″, folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

Using liquid glue I fixed the stamped Basic Beige layer on the inside of the card base. Then I added the reindeer layers to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally from the new Faux Glass Dots pack I chose the Copper Clay embellishments and added some around the sentiment. With that my first reindeer project was complete. I hope you like it.
