I love experimenting with new products and today I decided to play with the new Darling Label Punch which is included in the Darling Label Punch Tin from Stampin’ Up!
This product is not really a kit as such, but I love it. There’s the Darling Label Punch, a 6 piece photopolymer stamp set, a lightweight D size acrylic block and two Stampin’ Spots in Grapefruit Grove and Night of Navy, all stored in a gorgeous tin. You should note that the items contained in the Darling Punch Label Box are not available to purchase separately. Another thing I like about this product is that the Very Vintage Host Stamp Set coordinates with it so I get even more options.
Today I decided to play along with another colour challenge, this time the Global Design Project #GDP145 – using Grapefruit Grove, Fresh Fig and Mint Macaron.
I began with a 3″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White Card, scored on the long side at 3″. I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next using Mint Macaron ink I stamped the large floral image from the Very Vintage (Host) Stamp Set onto the front of the tag after first ‘stamping off’ onto a piece of scrap paper. This gave me a lighter more subtle version of the image. I also stamped a portion of the same image (again stamped off) across the bottom right corner on the inside of the folded tag.
The ribbon came next, Grapefruit Grove 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon, attached 1/8″ in from the folded edge using Tear & Tape Adhesive. I tied a separate tiny bow and added that with a Mini Glue Dot.
On another piece of Whisper White Card I used Fresh Fig ink to stamp the border image from the Very Vintage (Host) Stamp Set and inside the border stamped the ‘for you’ sentiment with Mint Macaron ink. Then I punched out the sentiment using the coordinating Darling Label Punch.
I wanted the sentiment to stand out against the tag and so punched out a piece of Mint Macaron Card than cut it diagonally in half. Using a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I then attached the two pieces to the back of the sentiment.
As I was trying to work out where to place the assembled sentiment I had a brainwave. Why not make the right-hand corners of the tag match the shape of the sentiment! It wasn’t too difficult to put the corners of the tag base inside the Darling Label Punch from underneath, make sure that the sides were square with the sides of the punch opening, and punch.
I attached the assembled sentiment to the front of the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then punched a hole in the top left corner on the back of the tag using a 1/8″ Circle Handheld Punch. Once I threaded a length of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine through the hole and tied it in a simple knot my tag was done.
A little while ago for my blog post Bright and early I made some other folded gift tags with rounded corners and I can’t decide which of the two styles I like best. I do know that little design ideas like these can also be used on other projects and I will probably be trying that in the not too distant future.
CHALLENGE
The colours for my project today were taken from the Global Design Project Challenge #GDP145.
HOST STAMP SETS
Host stamp sets are available at below retail value, but cannot be purchased for cash. They are only available by ‘spending’ Stampin’ Rewards earned with a minimum $200 CAD order (whether on order or a combined party total – hence the term ‘host’ stamp set).
If ordering online, when you are going through the check out process the system will tell you the value of any Stampin’ Rewards you have earned and prompt you to choose the items you would like. You can choose from the host stamp sets or if you wish you can also choose from the current catalogue(s) and the Clearance Rack. You are only limited by the amount of Stampin’ Rewards you have earned. You can even choose something a little more expensive than your earned Stampin’ Rewards and pay the difference.
If you place your order directly through me I will also let you know if you have earned Stampin’ Rewards, or let you know if you are close to earning them, so you don’t miss out on this benefit.
Stampin’ Rewards can also be used towards paying for your starter kit if you wish to join Stampin’ Up!, and in July you’ll also get a free set of 10 Classic Stampin’ Pads. Win, Win, Win! Contact me for more information.
