We’re halfway through a big storm and have already lost power once. Yesterday’s torrential rain has ended and this morning we have beautiful sunny blue skies. Unfortunately the wind has been building steadily overnight and continues to strengthen. It’s definitely not balloon weather, so why was that what I wanted on my project today?

SIMPLE STYLE
I began with a piece of Very Vanilla Card 2″ x 3-1/2″. I then found a strip of this blue design from the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) Pack. The strip was 1-3/8″ wide but a little long, so I trimmed it down and attached it to the Very Vanilla piece with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I shaped the top of the layered strips using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.
Next I wiped a piece of Very Vanilla Card with an Embossing Buddy to remove any oils and static. I found a balloon with a hooray sentiment in the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set that was perfect for my project. So using VersaMark ink I stamped the balloon onto the card and then sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I tapped off the excess and removed a few stray specks, before finally melting the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
Using the coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch I punched out the embossed balloon, then tied some Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine around the neck. I attached the balloon to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals under the balloon, and liquid glue to hold the balloon string in place.
Finally I threaded some Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine through the slot at the top of the tag and tied it in a simple knot.
After I’d finished the tag it occurred to me that this would be great for a graduation gift especially if you used the school colours for the tag base. What do you think?
Phew! I’m so pleased I managed to get the blog written while we still had power and access to the internet. Now I’m not going to push my luck any further, and instead plan to spend the day playing in my craft room.
