Encircled In Beauty Retires

April 1, 2022 Leave a Comment

When a product is retired by Stampin’ Up! I stop using it on my blog projects. This is because I’d hate you to fall in love with something you can no longer buy. Many of these products are then sold off to make room for new things. But there are always exceptions for products that will definitely stay for my own private use. The Encircled In Beauty Dies fall into that latter category. I love being able to create doilies in any colour I want, and in multiple sizes too.

ENCIRCLED IN BEAUTY

For today’s project I chose the medium doily that’s about 3″ across and with a pierced circle around the centre. Unlike some of the dies in the retiring Encircled in Beauty set this one leaves a solid area in the middle. It’s perfect for stamping a sentiment or layering on, but today I wanted to leave it blank. So first I cut a 1-1/2″ x 3″ piece of Very Vanilla Card and backed it with some Adhesive Sheet. Then after placing the die on the card side I ran it through my Cut & Emboss Machine.

Next I chose a subtle pattern from the retiring Pansy Petals 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP). I cut a piece 2″ x 4″ and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) fixed it to a 2″ x 4″ strip of Very Vanilla Card.

To turn the strip into a tag I first used the retiring Detailed Trio Punch to punch an oval hole at one end. Then I folded 6″ of Very Vanilla twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack in half and pushed the loop through the hole. Finally I threaded the cut ends of the twine through the loop and pulled gently to secure it in place.

At last I was ready for the die-cut doily. I carefully peeled off the backing paper from the Adhesive Sheet and pressed the doily onto the tag front, lining up the straight edges. That just left the sentiment.

CELEBRATING YOU (AGAIN!)

For my sentiment I pulled out the Celebrating You Stamp Set. This 16 piece all-occasion sentiment only stamp set is definitely my current favorite. Today I chose “Lots of Love” and stamped it onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Card using Early Espresso ink.

To cut out the sentiment I decided to pull out another retiring product, the Tasteful Labels Dies. I was very late getting these dies but they’ve become a staple in my craft studio. From this set I chose the small banner die which was the perfect size and added a nice stitched detail around the edge too.

Once the sentiment was cut I added it to the tag front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and my project was finally complete.

I love how this tag turned out and although the layout is quite simple it has lots of interest. The design would work for lots of occasions, and with the Encircled in Beauty Dies the doily could be cut to coordinate with whatever background paper you chose. What do you think?
