Happy Canada Day everyone! It’s going to be lovely here in Nova Scotia and it started well with a couple of special deals announced by Stampin’ Up! for July, but more about that later.
My simple Sunday project today might prove useful if you’re visiting someone and taking flowers as a hostess gift, whether that’s a bunch of cut flowers or a potted plant (which is my preferred way of receiving flowers).
There’ll be lots of flag waving going on today and that was the inspiration for this gift tag on a stick. I started with a 3″ x 6″ piece of Very Vanilla Card and on the long side I scored it at 3″. I flipped the card over so other long side was at the top and scored the card at 3-3/8″. I folded the card at the 3″ mark with the valley of the scored line on the outside and then folded the other scored line back the other way and sharpened both creases with my Bone Folder.
Next I stamped the tulip image from the In Every Season Stamp Set in the smaller section of the card using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The tulip was coloured in using Watercolor Pencils in Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive, with a little Basic Gray used to add a light shadow undeneath. Between adding each layer of colour I used a Blender Pen to blend the pencil.
p.s. If you love watercolor pencils look out for a special announcement later in this blog post!
The In Every Season Stamp Set doesn’t have any sentiments so I took the ‘for you’ sentiment from the Labels to Love Stamp Set and stamped it below the tulip image with Tuxedo Black ink.
Next I needed to add my stick which was a 0.1″ piece of thin craft dowel that I’d purchased at the Great Canadian Dollar Store. I opened up the folded card and attached some Tear & Tape Adhesive between the two scored lines. I placed the dowel tight up against the 3″ scored line and then folded the front of the tag over, pressing it down firmly.
All that was left was to wrap a length of Berry Burst 3/8″ Metallic Edge Ribbon around the front of the tag and tie it in a simple square knot.
With the extra scored line on the front of the tag it’s easy to open up the tag to add your message, and the stick can be placed inside a bouquet or pressed into the soil of a pot plant.
NAME THAT FLOWER
The In Every Season Stamp Set contains 12 lovely little line art images of flowers and I thought it might be helpful to tell you what the flowers are and show you how I’ve used a fine Sharpie marker so I don’t forget. From the top, and left to right they are: waterlily, tulip, poinsettia, morning glory, rose, carnation, violet, lily of the valley, primrose, daffodil, daisy and poppy.
DON’T MISS THESE AMAZING DEALS
First, there’s an amazing joining offer. Choose $165 of product (including anything from a current Demonstrator pre-order list) and then throw in any one of 5 sets of 10 ink pads (Neutrals, Brights, Subtles, Regals, or the two sets of current InColors) and pay only $135 flat. That’s up to $257.25 of product for $135 with no additional shipping or taxes to pay!
I explained a little about the perks and requirements of joining Stampin’ Up! in my previous blog post Wonderful moments, but if you’re still undecided about joining my Crafty Canadians team please do contact me and I’ll be happy to answer all your questions.
Then there’s the second great offer, buy any 3 packs of selected Designer Series Paper (DSP) and then choose a fourth pack absolutely free. There’s 10 different DSP packs to choose from and no limit to how many free packs you can earn. You’ll find links to all the packs included in the Buy 3 Get 1 offer at the end of this blog post.
HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT (and get icing on the top!)
Now just suppose you’d love to take advantage of the deal on Designer Series Paper and you also want to join Stampin’ Up! to get those 10 free ink pads? Sadly you can’t actually combine both offers, but there is a way to take advantage of both deals, it’s all a matter of timing.
Start by joining Stampin’ Up! choose your $165 of product and select your free collection of 10 ink pads, and pay your $135 joining fee. Then once you are a Demonstrator you can order your packs of Designer Series Paper and select your free one for every 3 you order, just like everyone else. Of course the icing on the cake is that by placing a Demonstrator order not only will you get your free DSP, you’ll actually pay 20% less for the ones you are paying for. Just remember though that the joining offer and the Designer Series Paper Sale ends on July 31st.
Oh and another perk of being a Demonstrator is you get to order things before they are released to customers. For instance this morning I ordered a brand new stamp set called Color Your Season with a coordinating set of dies called Stitched Seasons Framelits AND a pack of Watercolor Pencils in 10 new colours. I ordered the stamp set and dies using a bundle code which saved me 10%, and then got my Demonstrator discount off the order too. All three items will not be available for customers to order until August 1st and even then they are only going to be on sale until August 31st (or while stocks last).
That’s a lot of information to take in, but I’m happy to explain anything in detail just contact me (use the link in the bar right at the top of the webpage) and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
Oh my goodness there’s so much going on I may need to go and lie down to recover.
Wherever you are and whatever you have planned, I hope you are able to enjoy some sunshine and relaxation today.
