And just like that it’s the first Wednesday in the month and time for another IDEAS Blog Hop. This month our theme is “That’s so suite of you” and the team have created projects to showcase some of Stampin’ Up!’s amazing product suites. For my contribution I chose the Cute As A Bug suite and it certainly lives up to its name. My favourite feature is the fact that the dies not only cut out some of the stamped images but also parts of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) too!

I began by cutting a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Peach Pie Card for my A2 card base. Then with the long side at the top I scored it at 4-1/4″, folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

Next I cut a 7/8″ x 4″ strip of Basic White Card. From the Reason To Celebrate Stamp Set I chose “Congratulations” and stamped it onto the white strip with Cajun Craze ink. Then I cut a 1″ x 4″ piece of Peach Pie Card and glued the sentiment on top leaving an even border at the top and bottom. Finally I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card and using Stampin’ Dimensionals mounted the assembled sentiment on top 1-1/4″ from the top edge. With that done I glued the white layer onto the front of the card base leaving an even border all round.

BUG PARADE

Now I was ready to go on a bug hunt and chose the parade of three ants that appear in both the stamp set and the DSP. I started by using the die from the coordinating Sweet Bugs Dies to cut them from the DSP sheet. But as I was deciding where to place them on my card front it just looked like they were floating in mid-air! It was then I looked down and noticed that the scraps left over from my die-cutting had grass and tiny flowers on the back. So I immediately trimmed the pieces with scissors before gluing them onto the card front 1-1/2″ below the sentiment. Then I simply fixed the die-cut ants on the grass with pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

While the front of my card was done I still had to decorate the inside and the envelope to match. So I cut another 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. This time I used Cajun Craze ink to stamp the three ant image from the Sweet Bugs Stamp Set in the bottom right-hand corner. Then I glued the stamped layer inside the card base. I followed this up by stamping the ants onto the front of a Basic White Medium Envelope. However the stamping just looked boring, and then I had an idea…

Going back to the DSP sheet I die-cut another set of the ants. This time I decided to use only two of the three (the one with the trumpet would be saved for another project). First I glued the waving ant over the matching image stamped on the front of the envelope. Then once I’d glued the ant with the flag over the matching image on the inside of the card my project was finally complete.
