Here’s a quick but striking project I haven’t made in a while. It’s a plant stake style tag. In the past I’ve made them using a variety of wreath stamps and dies but today’s project is a little different. As soon as I saw the big die in the new Sunflowers Dies I new it would be perfect.

SUNFLOWER STAKE
I began with the new Sunflowers Dies, specifically the large solid die and the large delicate die. I die-cut two of the solid sunflowers, one each from the new Bumblebee Card and Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then using the delicate die I cut one from Crumb Cake Card.
Next I covered the Bumblebee piece with VersaMark ink and sprinkled it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I tapped off the excess and melted the rest using my Heat Tool on 2 (high). Once the embossing had cooled I added more VersaMark on top, followed by more Clear Embossing Powder. Then I tapped off the excess and melted it all again creating a thick glossy layer.
This time, before the embossing had a chance to cool I pressed the Crumb Cake piece on top. Then I added another layer of VersaMark and Clear Embossing Powder. This helped keep the Crumb Cake piece in place and gave the sunflower a stained glass look.

After everything had cooled I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach a 1/4″ x 7″ wooden stick to the back of the sunflower. Then I used more liquid glue to fix the Very Vanilla piece, sandwiching the stick between the sunflowers.
JUST BECAUSE SENTIMENT
For my “just because” sentiment I turned to the new Lovely You Stamp Set. On a 3/4″ strip of Thick Very Vanilla Card I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark ink. Then I sprinkled the ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. Finally I melted the rest using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
To shape the ends of the tag I used the new Lovely Label Pick A Punch. Then I finished off the tag by fixing the sentiment to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I think I may just be in love with sunflowers right now, as you’ll see with my project tomorrow. In the meantime here’s a look at the new Sunflowers Dies.
