After making yesterday’s card I realised that I’d created blue projects three days in a row. So today I was determined to avoid blue and chose a bright and cheerful red as my accent colour instead. I also pulled out the In The Woods Dies as they’ve been very neglected of late too.

IN THE WOODS FIR TREES
The In The Woods Dies includes has a couple of different tree styles plus some smaller accent dies. I decided for my Christmas tree tag I’d use the two fir tree dies. One of these dies is a solid fir tree shape while the other is slightly narrower and cuts ‘branches’ as well as the outline.
For my tag I used both dies to cut some Shimmery White Card. It’s really hard to photograph but it has a shimmer when the light catches it.
First I took the solid tree and used a Mini Glue Dot to attach a loop of Linen Thread on the front near the top. This would allow me to tie on the tag without having to make a hole in it.
Next I turned over the tree with the branches and put small pieces of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of each ‘branch’. Between the branches and around the edge I also put a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
Then I fixed the smaller tree onto the larger one. I took special care to press down where I’d put liquid glue to ensure that these area really stuck well. This also made the branches with the Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals lift up and add to the 3D effect. It also sandwiched the thread between the two layers at the top of the tree.
DECORATING THE TREE
Once I was happy that the two pieces were securely fixed together it was time to decorate the tree.

I began with a piece of Poppy Parade / gold ribbon from the All The Trimmings Ribbon Combo Pack. First I used a Mini Glue Dot to fix one end of the ribbon near the top of the top tree. Then I wrapped the ribbon around both layers of the tag and secured the other end with a Mini Glue Dot under a lifted branch.
Finally I added a scattering of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels for some extra shine, and my gift tag was complete.
Have to say that my photos really don’t do this gift tag justice. When it moves the card has a subtle shimmer, but even more impressive is the way the gold edge on the ribbon and the rhinestones catch the light.
