As I write this blog post I am still in shock. Something I never imagined has finally happened. Stampin’ Up! is retiring the Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set. Lovely As A Tree was the set that drew me to Stampin’ Up! and is a classic. The stand of bare trees is one I’ve used many times in the 5 years I’ve had the set, and it seems only fitting that it’s that image that I use on today’s Simple Sunday project.

#SIMPLESTAMPING
I began with a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card cut and scored on my (also retiring) Stampin’ Trimmer. I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base. Then uing liquid glue I added a layer of Fresh Fig Card to the front.
Next I took a layer of Very Vanilla Card and used Fresh Fig ink to stamp the stand of trees image in the centre. Then I added the ‘time for a new adventure’ sentiment from the Well Said Stamp Set above the trees. With that done I fixed the layer to the front of the card base.

At the bottom of another layer of Very Vanilla Card I stamped the left part of the trees image coming in from the right. Then I stamped the right side of the image coming in from the left. This piece was then fixed inside the card base with liquid glue.
Finally I stamped the image in the bottom left and right corners on the front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, and I was done.
Lovely As A Tree is the perfect stamp set for #simplestamping . The images are simply gorgeous and perfect for so many different occasions. If you don’t already have this set in your collection, I’m shocked. But you still have time to order it before it’s gone forever.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Well Said Stamp Set used for the sentiment on today’s card as part of a bundle with the coordinating Well Written Framelits Dies. This meant that I saved 10% off the cost of getting the two items separately. The stamp set and dies will be in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue when it goes live to customers on June 4th. However I want to remind you that like all current bundles, the discounted price will end on June 3rd. I’ve included a link to the bundle in my product list in case you want to look at this option while it’s still available.
The Fresh Fig Card used today is one of the five 2017/2019 InColors that are also retiring, and from tomorrow will only be available while stocks last. I suspect that they will sell out quickly so if you haven’t already done so, order now so you don’t miss out

First of all, your card is a lovely “adventure” into the unexpected, so … thank you for that! A lovely homage paid to any old friend! This news hit me hard when I first read or heard about it too … almost like losing a beloved family member! However, it was bound to happen “eventually” and perhaps we got a glimpse into the future with the coming on the “Rooted In Nature” Bundle fairly recently, so it’s not as if we’ve been left bereft of anything. Still sad to see it go though. Hope you’ve had a lovely break away and enjoyed your time with other “Birds of a Feather” … and you’re coming home with renewed inspiration and excitement for what’s ahead!!
Thank you Geraldine. I suspect that it will be one of those situations where you’ll always remember where you were when you first heard the news that Lovely As A Tree was retiring.
