Making The Simplest Giftcard Holder

October 18, 2020 Leave a Comment

Today I have another #simplestamping project for you and it’s a hybrid, a giftcard holder and card in one. If you’ve ever wanted something other than the store branded carriers offered when you buy a giftcard, here’s a quick and easy option.

Simple giftcard holder/card created using the Nothing's Better Than and Ornate Thanks Stamp Sets from Stampin' Up! #simplestamping #papercraftwithme

SCORE ONE LINE

My giftcard holder started with a basic Very Vanilla Note Card & Envelope. The note card comes ready scored with a line down the centre. All I did was add an extra score line on the front 1″ from the cut edge. Then I folded the card along both scored lines and sharpened the creases with a Bone Folder.

Before fixing anything in place I first needed to do a little stamping. I planned to use this for a Tim Horton’s coffee giftcard so I pulled out the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set.

Using Cherry Cobbler ink I stamped the outline of the cup on the front of the note card to the left of my extra scored line. Then I reinked the stamp and stamped it again on the front of the envelope.

Next I took the solid stamp to fill in the colour on the coffee cup. For this I chose Rococo Rose ink. I inked up the stamp and then stamped off onto some scrap paper to remove a little of the ink. That done, I then stamped into one of my coffee cup outlines. Then I repeated the process a second time.

To complete the images I stamped the ‘steam’ image above each cup using Rococo Rose ink at full strength.

GIFTCARD HOLDER MAGIC

With the images done I was ready to turn the note card into a giftcard holder.

This was a simple process of folding in the 1″ strip on the front of the card. Then I secured it in place with a little Tear & Tape Adhesive under the top and bottom edges. This created a pocket into which I could slide the giftcard.

Before doing that though I needed to add my sentiments from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set.

First on the folded over flap I used Cherry Cobbler ink to stamp “for all your help”. Then I closed the card and stamped the large “thanks” in the space revealed on the back section.

Finally I placed the giftcard in the pocket and my simple Sunday project was complete.

Although I used a note card to make this giftcard holder you could do exactly the same thing with a standard sized card too. The great thing is you can make it as simple or elaborate as you want.

PRODUCT LIST

BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set in a bundle with the coordinating Love You More Than Dies. I also bought the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set in a bundle with the Ornate Borders Dies. Buying products as a bundle using a special ‘bundle’ item number will save you 10% off the cost of buying the same items separately. So although I didn’t use either die set today I’ve included links to the bundles so you can explore these options if you wish.
