Marking St David’s Day With A Finished Card

March 1, 2020 Leave a Comment

Exactly one week ago I was experimenting with daffodils. Well experimenting with how to make 3D daffodils from card. The jury’s still out one which version of the two was more popular, but as today is St David’s Day I just could resist using one to make this card.

With a pretty 3D daffodil created using Stampin' up! punches this "new beginnings" card is perfect for St David's Day. #papercraftwithme

SPRING COLOURS

I wanted to have a spring-like feel to my St. David’s Day project so chose Pear Pizzazz Card for the base. First I cut and scored it using my Paper Trimmer. Then I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

For the background I selected a pretty leafy pattern from the Garden Lane 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the DSP to some Daffodil Delight Card before adding the assembled layers to the card base.

Next I cut a 3/4″ strip of the same DSP and glued it down the right-hand edge of a layer of Very Vanilla Card. Then I added this to the inside of the card base.

Finally I cut one last piece of the DSP and fixed that to the flap on a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then using Paper Snips I cut the DSP to shape using the edge of the flap as a guide.

ST DAVID’S DAY DAFFODIL

Today is a day for new beginnings with daffodils created using various punches and the Power of Hope Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! #papercraftwithme

I mentioned that I had already created the daffodil focal point for this card as an experiment. For details of exactly how I made these two slightly different daffodils, see my blog post An unfinished tale of two daffodils.

For today’s project I chose the daffodil at the top, with the centre made using the 1″ Circle Punch. As I’d already attached it to the sentiment from the Power of Hope Stamp Set, all I had to do was use liquid glue to fix it to my card.

I’m really happy with how this project turned out. Now I need to make a few more of these flowers for another project idea that’s just popped into my head! Watch out for that in a future blog post.
